I am a novice when It comes to anything electrical, But I want to simply hook up my DVD player to my TV. I bought the converter box because the Olevia doesn't have a video in slot. Now I have a standard cable hooked up to the box that the DVD player is hooked into. Everything is in place, but why can't I see the DVD screen. I checked every source, and I had this TV and DVD player hooked up before I moved so I know it works. I just forgot how.

U setup ur DVD player in what format?Set it up with a one cable call HDMI?Or u use a RCA cable YELLOW.RED,WHITE to hook it up.The movie play,u push the button on ur remote said INPUT go down INPUT said 1,2,3 so on.If hook it up right the movie, should play in one of this INPUT said 1,2,3 so on.
What input did you plug the DVD player into on the back of the tv? Check what it is called (AV = Composite i think), and switch to it using the Input button on the tv remote (not the cable box remote).
hey I think you need to use component cables blue green red from the player to the tv, make sure the blue green red ports are also on the tv, note: red yellow white composite cable will not interchange with blue green red component cable or connection.
simplify- blue green red= component red white yellow=composite
*wires must match colors on both tv and player inputs.
then set your input on your tv to where you conected the cable.
be sure to check:
The tv is on the appropriate AV Channel ( the same one you plugged the ps3 cable into )
The cables are connected properly.
Or Your channel input settings might be wrong on your tele ,, so maybe, AV 2 is set to actually take signal from the AV 3 input...
Maybe wrong but just check these things cause sometimes its something stupid and you'll kick youself later ha ..Good luck
