Question about Kenmore HE2 Plus Front Load Washer

Kenmore washer water pump

Saw your description of how to solve a problem with the water pump. (Previously I had the clogged drain problem, but nothing in there this time but coins). With 4 kids and stuff in pocket, I'm betting rubber band or string could be in water pump.

But I can't figure out how the heck to take the water pump off the drain to see if anything trapped in there. Any ideas on how it comes off ??, or is it a 1 piece unit ? (Much appreciate any tips or tricks here).

My washer won't drain and therfore won't go through entire spin cycle. I have checked and cleared the drain to the pump and the pump trap. Took the hose connection off at base of the drum and checked the ball for obstructions. Did the diagnostic tests which told me it was possibly the CCU (computer control board). Ordered that part and put it in. Still have the same problem. Water seems to be backing up from the pump and stopping the machine. Pump will run for a short while and then stop. When I did a quick test dry with the pump electric connection it seemed to work fine. I'm perplexed. Anyone offer help?

If you wish to check the drain pump for obstructions, the following link will give guidance:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

Read through the link thoroughly. The use of a wet/dry shop vac will come in very handy for draining water from the wash tub and minimizing the mess that is associated with cleaning out the drain pump and/or drain lines. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

PS The clean out reservoir on the drain pump simply unscrews and pulls out.

What does F2 code mean with the Kenmore Elite HE3?

Based upon your description, the drain pump has either failed or the pump filter has become clogged.
To check the pump, remove the bottom access panel. There you will find access to the pump clean-out.(Large,white screw cap) BE READY TO CATCH LOTS OF WATER. CAREFULLY AND S_L_O_W_L_Y unscrew the pump clean-out, catching and discarding the water. When the water flow finally stops, completely remove the clean-out filter. Inspect the clean-out filter, the drain hose from the tub as well as inside the pump impeller for any additional debris.

WASHER WILL NOT DRAIN WATER KENMORE WASHER APPROX 9 YRS OLD

Does the tub spin without draining?

This JUST happened to me last night. Opened washer after a load and still full of water. Fifteen spins later, still about an inch of water in tub...
RepairClinic.com suggests checking the hoses from the washer tub to the drain pump for anything clogged in it. (WARNING!!! As soon as you remove one end of the hose ANY water remaining in the tub will come RUSHING out if not clogged. I was prepared for water, but not a rush of water.)
If there is no clog in that hose, remove the drain pump and check for something in it.
(My pump was burning up because some how a plastic stick got into it. I am waiting on the new pump now.)
If there is nothing in the first hose or the pump, see if anything is in the hose leading to the drain.

If not, they suggested something either purchasing a new pump as it may have quit working or something may have gotten stuck in between the tubs. This requires tearing apart and sometimes special tools.

Kenmore 90 series washer does not drain

Check the following to address this issue.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

The water doesn't drain

First check your external drain, it could be clogged, snake it out. And do not put the exit hose too deep, 4 to 6 inches fine. There should be air also, the hose should not be a tight fit. If this does not solve it, check your pump to find any clogging. Pump comes after the filter.
