Snapping noise and flickering pic when set is first turned on

When the tv is turned on, after it has been off for several hours or overnite, it emits a clicking or snapping noise, in conjunction with the pic kind of flickering. this happens in four or five quick short bursts, but is fine as it is left on, this has increased, since when it first started happening, it only would happen once, or not even everyday. now it's everyday.

I have a RCA L32HD31YX12 TV. The TV works fine for a half hour and then the screen flickers and goes black. The sound continues. If I turn the set off for a half hour, it works again for another half

You have answered your own question, someone needs to open it and find a loose plug or broken solder connection--if it reacts to being tapped on that is the issue- a physical problem inside.

Hourglass picture. Panasonic CT-35G30T The picture is hour glassing from the sides. Starts to flicker back to normal after 1 to 2 hours. Getting progressively worse. Takes longer time to reach normal...

This is caused by bad solder connections in what's called the pincushion correction circuit. Some of the transistors get quite hot, and over time the solder connections to the TV circuit board become intermittent. When you tap the set, it causes them to make contact again so the picture is normal, but then it goes funny again. Resoldering the connections would take care of this problem. I would suggest calling a professional in to make the repair, which would cost far less than a replacement TV.

Hope this has been helpful, and thanks for using Fixya!

40" cs-40503 Popping noise

Sounds like there is a lot of dust on the crt, itself. This will cause a high voltage "snap" which I think you are hearing. This sometimes happens when there has been a spill of water or other liquid that has run or dripped down on the crt. Usually is not a problem if you turn the power off, unplug the cord from the wall outlet, take off the cover, let it set for a while( just to make sure the Hi voltage has drained off), disconnect and ground the hi voltage lead to assure drain down, then clean the dust off of the crt. Follow the dust off with a damp rag and wipe off all of the remaining dust that you can. Let things dry for a half hour or so. Reassemble and see how it works. I have had several $10 tv's that this process has worked well on. Each one lasted several years at least.

Picture in picture / or picture problems

First thing you should try is unplug the set for several hours. If you have the same problem, then you are going to have a system control issue and or a standby power supply issue. These problem, unless you know how these circuits work in a TV set, will need to be looked at by a trained tech. Good Luck

Flickering Picture?

Your set might have a high voltage leak and that is the noise you hear when is showing the screen problem or even maybe an arking too ,either one is related to the high voltage and it can be dangerous,if you are familiar with tv service you can try to see where is arking and replace the part with an exact replacement but if the set has a leak you will not see it and is not safe to be close to it,if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
