Casio Exilim Z57 Date and Language set up (by 6 users)

posted by newbie2020 on Jun 14, 2007

Everytime i turn on the camera, it goes to the Date and time set up. I select the values and hit set but next time i restart my camera it takes me back to the same place and asks me to select language/date and time.

Can some one help..

No luck with format. Any other options?

My casio exilim ex-z75 conveniently stopped working its magic a couple of weeks after its one-year warranty expired. Each time that I turn it on the language/time/date settings insist that they be reset. It is possible to bypass this problem by simply pressing the 'menu' button. However, in doing so, it is impossible - or at least I have found it to be, to upload photos in their chronological order. This is annoying - especially when you take a gazillion photos like I do. I have tried to reformat the memory to no avail. I called Casio and they suggested that I send it in to be repaired. The cost of which, they estimated, is between $40 and $119. As the camera's current listed price is $120, this really irks me. But enough about my bitterness.

I have the same problem and unfortunately, formatting the internal memory does not seem to work... am i doing this wrong or is it more serious problem?

Exactly the same symptoms. Anyone figure out a user-level solution?

OK, here's the fix. This camera has internal flash memory that is used to store settings and can be used for limited picture storage. Its use for saving setting is essential, however. If this gets corrupted then the camera won't save settings. Whoever said to format the internal memory had the right idea.

After much experimentation here's how. Remove your SD memory from the camera and turn it on. This will force it to run on the internal memory only. Run through the time/date/location setup again. It will complain about the memory card. Ignore this and press menu. Under Setup, select format. Choose format memory card and do it. This will format the internal memory. Once it is done, turn the camera off and back on. You'll notice that the problem is gone and it has remembered your last setup.
BTW, my camera is a EX-Z75. Not sure there is a Z57 model.

Check the Casio technical support team- this seems to be an internal failure0 unless of course there is some you missed in the manual- check that thoroughly first.
