My Simpson Eziset 550 will not drain after a (normal) wash cycle. When the drain hose is lowered to the floor drain water flows heavily from the hose (gravity). When the hose is returned to the sink d

Hi Erin just read your post,I have worked on these machines alot. Now I need you to manually drain the machine of all the water. Once drained i want you to select drain and spin cycle. Now push the start button,do you hear the pump working? If you do stop the machine and select normal cycle on small water level and push the start button. The machine will then fill.Once it stops filling stop the machine and select drain an spin cycle.Does the machine pump out? Now if you do not hear the pump, could be the pump is faulty or jammed.Does the water flow very fast when you lower it to the floor? Please reply with answers to these questions and I will try my best to help you.

My whirl pool duet sport keeps having an error message of f21 and 5d. i read that it means the water is not draining right. what can i do to fix this?

F21 means to a long drain.
Basically means that water is not pumping out quick enough. If all the drain lines have been checked for blockages and restrictions the manufacturer recommends the pump is replaced. Some times the impeller can become damaged or the motor which can cause the pump to work slower then it should causing this error code. If you took off the hose from the tub to the pump and found nothing then I doubt there is a blockage in the drum (it would have moved into the drain filter).

Sd or 5d error SUDS LOCK (OVERDOSE OF DETERGENT DETECTED DURING THE WASH CYCLE)
If suds are detected continuously by the pressure switch during the drain or spin phases, the washer will fill 4 liters of water and during 5 minutes the unit will rest without tumbling, the water will be drained and it will try to spin or drain again.

If too much detergent was used:
- Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
- Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent.

This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.

Hope this helps.

WASHER WILL WASH ON ALL CYCLES, BUT WILL NOT DRAIN OR SPIN ON EITHER CYCLE

If the timer advances normally thru the spin and drain steps of the cycle you selected, than the problem that would cause neither spinning or draining, is the wash motor is not reversing. The motors is a two direction motor. It spins clockwise for normal agitation, but counterclockwise to engage the wash drum clutch and operate the drain pump. I would ask you to check for motor sounds at all during the spin and drain cycles. The pump reversing in the spin or drain cycles can be a function of the machine's lid safety switch, or if not the motor switch or timer contacts. The lid switch is first thing to check here, for sure! If the machine seems to stop running when it comes time to drain or spin, the lid switch is your best bet!

Hope this helps.

Does everything but drain

Look for a blockage or a kink in the drain hose.

Some washers will also have a valve and pump on the drain line independent of the main drive. Due to high vibration of the washer, it is not uncommon for wires to come off here.

Checking the drain hose for kinds is easy, just have to look at it and see if there are any sharp bends and such. To do the rest, you are going to have to drain it using expedient methods. Try taping a garden hose to the end of the drain hose, roll the garden hose outside. Lower the drain hose to the floor. If the washer starts to drain with a pretty good flow (washer should be turned off at this point), then you likely don't have a valve on the drain, but the pump isn't working for whatever reason. Let the washer drain as much as it will, remove clothing, and turn the washer over onto its front side.

Remove the bottom cover (if present), and follow the drain line back to the pump assembly. If you have a pump near the drain connection, check its wiring (unplug first) to make sure everything is tight. If the drain line goes to a pump that is driven off the main motor, then the impeller is damaged or coupler is broken.

Most washers will drive the water pump off the same motor that turns everything else. To avoid draining during wash cycle, the main motor will turn in reverse to engage the water pump. If the coupler is damaged, it is able to still run through cycles normally, but can't turn the water pump. The opposite is also true, if it is able to drain, but can't spin or agitate.

Machine will run through entire cycle and will not spin. It quits at the spin cycle. I checked the Black boot at the bottom. Removed and cleared out coins. Checked pump- it was turning freely. Reinstalled...

I had a similar problem and found out the "latch" on the washer door broke off. The machine won't run in spin cycle if the door is"open", but it would run through the wash cycle.

Wash cycle timing is way off.

Well, 1-1/2 hrs is normal for your washer. All front load washers take a long time. They wash a lot better than top loaders....

If it takes more time for drain or something , than it might be a concern............

However, to be on a safer side :) Lets troubleshoot
I would start by removing the hose off the pump that goes to the back wall of the washer and blow through it to make sure there are no obstructions. Also check the other hose from the tub to the pump. If there is, find and clear it. If not, read on. We need to make sure the transmission is working properly before going any further. When operating properly, this washer should drain all excess water (full load setting) in less than 180 seconds. That is the maximum neutral drain time for this particular washer. If you start the machine on a normal cycle with a 10 minute minimum agitate time, the transmission should not spin when it begins to drain. It is very important that you not disrupt the machine during this test, so use a small screwdriver to "trick" the lid switch, so you can have the lid open to see if it spins. If it doesn't spin while draining, then the transmission is okay. If it does begin spinning and draining at the same time, immediately reset for another 10 minutes of agitate and try again. You may have to run this test 1-5 times for an accurate neutral drain test. The most common failure of these transmissions is neutral drain failure. As I stated before, if the unit is spinning and draining at the same time, it won't be able to get rid of the water in time because the resistance of the tub trying to spin will slow down the motor which, in turn, slows down the pump. If the transmission doesn't spin while draining, see how long it takes to expell all the water; it should be less than 180 seconds. If it takes longer than that, there is some kind of restriction in the drain system. Anything from a kinked hose to a sock in the hose, or even a restricted house drain when the washer drain hose is sealed to the standpipe. If your washer drains to a floor drain, there should also be a siphon break in the drain line that may be bad or plugged. Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks.
