Yes! you can use any phone line to fax. if you want to receive fax, then you need to setup the machine to receive fax after the pre-define number of rings, and your home phone number.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Canon mx 410 fax answers voice calls

I have an MX870 with the same problem - fax picks up during a voice call and I can no longer hear the caller. As with everyone else, the problem is intermittent and not replicable.
I have tried tel priority mode and fax priority mode (from the phone/paper submenu under physical Fax button) and all the various RX receive setting under Fax Settings submenu of the physical Settings button.
But I have a new possible solution. I only use the fax for outgoing -- for some time now I have been using K7.net for incoming faxes which delivers faxes to my email. That way I have a dedicated fax number, never miss an incoming fax while on the phone, and I have all faxes in electronic form as well.
So, my new idea was to set the MX870 to DRPD (distinctive ring pattern) receive mode (from the phone/paper submenu under physical Fax button). Since my phone service through Xfinity/Comcast does not offer DRPD, I am hoping that the MX870 will NEVER pick up a fax.
I will keep you posted as to whether this works.

I can't get my new Canon Pixma MX330 to send faxes! No matter what number I try to fax to I get a "line busy" message. This is my new home office fax! Please help!

Better check the connection at the back of your printer. This is the most common problem encounter when faxing...wrong connection.

1. when using the printer as fax, the line input should be connected properly to the "L" input at the back of the printer

2. The rj11 connector of the phone should be connected at the back of the printer with telephone label in it

I hope that helps.

No fax transmission

Plug the phone line into the plug marked L on the back, make sure you are dialing the full number, The fax won't work in an office with digital phone service, you need an analog phone line like at home. In fax setup you need the type of dialing set properly, tone or pulse dialing, check also with Canon support, 1-800-828-4040

Fax is printing other fax machine's outbond faxes

Yikes!! Get your phone company involved. Remember that a fax machine uses a normal home style phone line. Something is seriously messy with the phone lines in the building

I need to verify a received fax, but the connection tel column is blank (there is no number shown). How do I see who sent the fax at that time. There is a transaction number.. but how do I match this with...

It's possible that the originator has their number blocked (caller ID blocking). If that line is only used for the fax, I would try to learn the number using that same line and then using a phone, dialing *69 (in our area, yours may be different). If your service operates the same, you should get a voice message with the number and an offer to dial it for you.

Pixma MP530 Fax Problems

I am having a similar problem. You do have to connect your phone to the jack in the machine in the "Phone" jack slot, as well as have another line out to the jack in the wall in the "L" slot. That is all I know. I am having problems with my voicemail. Either I can received voicemail, and no faxes, or faxes, and no voicemail (fax picks up at specified number of rings). It is EXTREMELY frustrating. The machine is *supposed* to be able to discern between phone calls and faxes..and that is not happening.

Have you come across a solution? Aghhhhh!
