Unable to delete files from the recorder

When I transfer recorded files to my PC I do not need them in the recorder any more, but pressing the button "erase" seems to have no effect. whenever I come to transfer a new file, all the old ones are transferred too although I try remove them from the recorder immediately after every transfer. I am a reporter and I have been using the thing since a few weeks already and when I need to transfer a new record to PC, all the old records keep to be transferred repeatedly with the new one. Nowadays there are 7 files in the folder A (each about an hour of talk) and it takes quite a long time to have everything transferred. Can someone help me?

Resetting the Recorder (CLEAR)
This function resets the current time and other settings to their initial
status. It is useful if you are having problems with the recorder, or if you
want to erase the entire memory of the recorder.
1 Hold the STOP button, and hold the ERASE button for 3
seconds or longer.
2 Press the FF or REW button to select the “YES”.
3 Press the PLAY button.

The above solution also worked for me for a different problem. My VN-2100PC suddenly reduced it's available recording time from 5hours 53 in HQ to 3hours 20, after I had some problems with corrupted files. I deleted everything and still this was the case. I used the above solution and now have my full compliment of available memory.

Unable to transfer recording from File B

All files should be set for transfer when using the Olympus software.  There is a way you can check folder B in my computer by locating the program folder where the olympus software resides.  If folder B is empty, the recording could have landed in A, C, or D folder.

Olympus ds-30 deleted file recovery

on your computer, you will need some sort of media recovery software. also go to options under the tools menu and uncheck delete after transfer to turn off deletion. this is usually best since you can delete the files through the recorder by the erase button
