Looking for a timer for a gas fireplace

I have a gas fireplace in my bedroom that I would like to put on a timer so it will shut off after I go to bed. The fireplace has a standing pilot light and two switches. One switch is for the fan and the other is a low voltage connection that turns on the fireplace. I want to replace that switch with a timer that allows me to turn it on when I go to bed and have it shut itself off after 30-60 minutes.

Will the Lutron Miestro timer work for this?

Can I use for an indoor convection heater?

Yes, you need a timer that has two rows of tappets, one row is On and the other is Off. Set them all as offs, 2 hours apart. Turn the dial until the one Off clicks, turn the heater on and it will click Off in two hours. I have a similar setting in the bedroom if fall asleep with the table lamp on. It is set to switch off every hour after midnight.

Photo cell timer only stays on for a few minutes

Try it on another outlet, like in a dark bedroom without GFCI.
Buy another outdoor dawn-dusk timer.
Timers can be damaged by simple power outage, when power resumes there is a surge.
Timers stop working because the photo eye goes bad, or tiny 555 chip goes bad, etc.

I cannot figure out why my hot water no longer gets hot. I unplugged my timer 3 years ago and never had a problem. Now, no hot water unless timer is on and circulating.

Best solution is to remove the circulation-system crossover located under sink and see if problem is solved.
After removing crossover piece, try hot water tap.
Another way to check if this is the problem: Turn off cold water shut-off located above water heater. No need to turn off power or gas to water heater. Now, no water should flow when you turn on hot water tap because hot is turned off.
Open hot water side of double handled faucet. If water still comes out the hot side, then crossover is the problem.

After removing Taco crossover, you can still have the problem if a single handled faucet has the same type of crossover issue.
Repeat test to see if water comes out of hot side when water to water heater is shut off.
If water still comes out of hot side, then put ear against each single handled faucet and see which one has sound of moving water. That will narrow down the suspects.

Have been in our home for 25 years. Paragon 4001-00 is located at top of stairs, right outside of our bedroom, and we have no idea what it controls. No lights come on automatically, either outside or...

Find the circuit breaker that operates the timer.
Turn off that breaker.
Open the timer box.
Disconnect black wire from terminal 1 screw, and put wire nut or plastic tape over end of wire.
This will stop the timer, and then you can see what the timer is used for by watching what is not working.
Is the timer connected to a water heater?
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#4000

If timer is connected to water heater, move black wire that was connected to terminal 1, and connect it with wire on terminal 2. This will by-pass the timer, and the water heater will be on all the time.

If you need new timer that makes less noise, then buy electronic timer.
Paragon 4001-00 is simple 120V timer, so replace with Intermatic EH10 120V electronic timer.
Amazon sells EH10:

Looking for wiring sequency

1) Intermatic has manuals for each product. Manuals have wiring diagram, but you have to identify product number. Look for product number and wiring diagram inside timer door.
2) If you know product number, and are still confused by wiring, then repost question providing as much information as possible. You also need to post what voltage wire you are putting timer on.
3) Here is link to manual page:

I have an Intermatic T104 timer switch for my water heater that will not shut off power to the water heater even when manually switched ''off''. Looking at the back of the switch, it seems like there is...

It sounds like the switch lever linkage has come loose. You might be able to investigate this without removing the timer -- but make sure water heater breaker is off.

If you can't get good access to the linkage, the timer will have to be disconnected and the "innards" removed from the box.

It's probably just a loose or missing screw.

How to put on water timer T 1030

Screw the top of the timer firmly onto your hose bibb. (Faucet) The hose then screws to the bottom of the timer. Set your time, turn the water on, and water away! I suggest a brief time at first so that you can make sure the timer is indeed shutting off when it is supposed to.
