Re: when i hook up the ps3 it turns on but nothing comes...
The only times this has happened with me is when the lead was not pushed in all the way at the back of the console. Or the tv was not set to the correct channel or the lead going into the tv was not sitting correctly. Try all of these three things to see if it helps. If not try pressing the power button on your ps3 until you hear 3 beeps to reset the display.

Does the PS3 turn off?
If it stays on but you have a black screen, is it possible you have your tv set to the wrong channel?
Are you able to hook up your PS3 to another tv...preferably one that you know will work...such as a friend's tv that also has a ps3
Maybe u have the wrong cables hooked up if your tv does not have HDMI hook up then you are forced to use the cables that came with it. Make sure that they are correctly hooked up it should be color coded.
PS3 is The amazing device by sony but it has some common problems like Disc read error, unreadable disc etc.... Good news is that these all
problems can be repaired with the help of DIY Guides, one such guide
available at PS3 Repair Blog
Read this very carefully. Turn off your ps3 from the back. Then turn it back on wait unit the light is red. Turn on the system through the front keep holding the power on. You will hear a beep one time that just tell you that the ps3 is powering on keep holding the button until you hear the second beep this will rest your video setting. If that dosnt work call me at sony
ok a long shot but i did read somewere that if u hold down the power button for 10 seconds it detects or calibrates to the current TV that is connected its worth a try if nothing else, if this didnt help sorry but if it did enjoy :)
P.S. i dont know if the console needs to already be running to do this.
