My laptop won't turn on

A few months ago, my laptop's battery was low, so I plugged it in and nothing happened, and it died. I tried to plug it in again and turn it on, and it just died again. I initally thought that it was the battery, so I ordered a new battery that just came today and when I put it it, my laptop turned on for about a min. and it died again. I have no idea what is going on, but I have many important files on my laptop which I need to recover. HELP ME!!

Re: My laptop won't turn on

Do you have access to a multimeter? If so, check the voltage that is being put out by your power supply and make sure it matches the voltage that is supposed to be going out, typically around 19 v or so. It sounds like the power supply itself could be bad. If that is the case, then it is the DC connector in your computer that it attaches to.

My Laptop Won't Turn On.

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

My 2 month old laptop, Acer, battery died while plugged in charging. Now it will not charge or come come on at all

My mom has a Acer, although it is a few years old, and with her computer she had to keep it plugged in or the computer would die. It would not charge at all. She tried getting a new battery which only lasted a few months before she had the problem again, then she got a new power cord. She eventually found a section where she could recalibrate the battery which has helped although the battery will only last for a few hours.
If your computer won't even turn on then it sounds like you might need a new battery and/or powercord. Also, make sure the computer isn't really cold or hot (I know with my gateway that if the computer is cold or hot then it won't turn on at all, regardless of charge). I hope this helps a little. The only other thing that I can think of is if the laptop overheating and something happened with the motherboard or something of that sort, which in that case you are probably better off buying a new computer.

I have a toshiba laptop, and in the last few weeks something weird started happening. When the laptop is plugged into the AC, the power meter in windows tells me that the power source is still batteries,...

Change your AC charger.
It's NOT charging "When the laptop is plugged into the AC, the power meter in windows tells me that the power source is still batteries, and the battery level drops by about 1% every few hours"
That's the reason why: "battery has completely died"
If you do not change it you'll continue to "still it gives me the same low battery indication and will not turn on. "

Battery power problem

The battery contains cells (about 12 batteries linked together, normally in groups of 3)
They will die just like any other rechargable battery will.
The main difference is if one individual cell dies, it can dramatically shorten the amount of power your overall battery holds.
Replacement batteries are easy to find, but they can be expensive. If you replace it, then anytime you intend on running the laptop from mains power for an extended period, remove the battery.
