Question about Gateway FPD1975W 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Top Portion of Screen not displaying/updating images correctly

The top portion of the screen is not displaying and updating properly. Moving the pointer accross that portion leaves ghost trails and the images are not properly displayed. Also the color representation is not as accurate (faded). The lower 2/3 of the screen still displays images in a proper manner.

I will remove the rear cover and take a look at the flat ribbon cable connector.

The problem could be with the controller board in the back of the monitor, but more likely the LCD itself though. Could be the flat ribbon cable connecting the LCD to the controller, rather unlikely but I have seen them lose contact.

The Gateway's are also notorious for failed capacitors on the power inverter board. But your problem is not what I would attribute to that issue. I'm still leaning towards it being the LCD.

sounds like you need to run a screen config wizard. If you have a true Nvidia driver you can do this. Otherwise, re-download the driver from the main website http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html
and it'll work for you
