Computer unresponsive and error code 200 -0146

that is a dead hard drive. Im sorry. 2000-0146 means that the hard drive has failed its "self test" and is telling the computer it has a malfunction. *sometimes* the drive can be used with the malfunction just long enough to get your data, and sometimes it dies instantly: it depends on *what* the malfunction is, but in any case, the news is bad. Your drive is dying or dead and it must be replaced.

Computer just shut down for no reason won`t boot back up

First problem is the data inportant to you on there, if so before and other work is done i suggest have it recovered before work is done, easy way remove hard drive and place it in a docking staion as long as the drive is readable and use another machine to expolore you hard drive to recover data. if a corrupt mbr use icare data reovery as a computer shop or centre will be more than happy to charge big money.

Hard drive makes a noise then computer freezzes on and off, why?

Your hard drive is going bad. I would recommend that you back-up your data before the drive no longer works.
Here is something you could try to tell how bad your hard drive is. Take the hard drive out of your computer and put it in your freezer for about 10min and then take it out and plug it in and see if it works without freezing. We used this trick in CCNA school to recover data from hard drives. This should allow you enough time to start saving your data.
(You can do it multiple times to get your information saved, It does not hurt the hard drive in any way.)

In the control panel, go to administrative tools, open computer management. On the left side, there will be a "Disk Management" section, use that to assign a drive letter to your hard drive.

Presario 700 laptop dies and won't boot

Although I can't find the exact release date of the 700, I can make an educated guess based on the specs. I would say around 2001 to 2002. If this is correct, it sounds like the hard drive may have gone bad, as this happens to all hard drives at around this age. Hard drives are basically just pieces of metal that have been magnetized. And just like magnets, they will lose the magnetism, and, when it comes to computers, the ability to boot. You can still save the data if you need to, but the service to recover from a drive like that runs around $2000-$3500. My recommendation is to buy a new, better hard drive, and reload xp.

The hard drive is a basic IDE notebook drive, and can be replaced with something similar for almost nothing.

My computer died, but

the easy way to recover your data is to take out your hard drive and connect it as a secondary drive in any other computer, then you can get back all the data. if this is not possible you can use many data recovery tools like Norton ghost, for your help. .

Clicking sound from lacie hard drive can i fix it.... I know the drive is dying or dead, i just want to be able to save as much data as possible

you're right, the hard drive is dying, you need to get an external hard drive and dump the entire contents onto it, or if you have another pc, you can network them and dump the files onto the other pc. ( personally, I recommend the former, you can now get external hard drives from 250 to 500 Gb quite cheaply )
