I've got a APC Smart UPS 3000 (SUA3000RMI2U). I've changed the batteries and the unit still won't carry the load of a single Dell Poweredge 2950 power pack. The batteries show as being fully charged and when I do a test all lights show up on the overload, the system makes the overloaded sound then I get 3 of the 5 red lights on the battery side that comes on and the unit switches off. Any Thoughts?
Did you run this test without AC input?
Also what happens when you cut off the AC mains without any load connected to it? Will the UPS continue to run or does it switch off as well?
It works fine with low load on it like a standard desktop, monitor, 24port switch. The minute I put just one poweredge 2950 server (one PSU) on it it falls over. I've run the batteries flat using la small load and then I've let the batteries charge up again. Out of curiosity, the load lights on the left don't light up until the power is lost from the UPS?
Oh . . . yes, it runs fine with no AC input ... just with 'medium' load it falls over

it seems that the inverter circuit of your UPS is dying. the solution here is you have to open up the UPS and check the inverter circuit. to make easier, check the power mosfet if its leaking.
