Not turning back on after sleep mode

When not in use, aspire one goes to sleep mode...which is fine, but does not want to come out of sleep mode. I've tried left clicking, pressing any button, short press on power button...only way i've found is to hold power key...then it reboots!! Any suggestions??

Hi, I'm having the same problem. It did not bother me that much but it is now. For the past few days, I've been doing some heavy surfing with many tabs and windows open. Due to this, I always take a break from reading only to continue later. I press Fn+F4 to put it into sleep mode. I used to just close the lid, and it goes to stand by mode.

Whichever way, when I get back to continue after some 20-30 mins, I could feel the heat it has generated. This shouldn't be if it's in sleep mode. I could still hear the processor running though the screen is blank. Only the power button is still yellow. Naturally, it should wake up with any key but it hadn't even when I pressed every single keys or tried Fn+F4 or the Windows button to bring it back.

The only thing I could do is press and hold the power button for it to reboot, got to the password page, entered the password and started all over again. The pages I previously opened have all gone and this is really frustrating.

    Can anyone help???

I had the same problem when I first bought my Acer Aspire One a few weeks ago. I searched the web for answers, but it didn't really seem like anyone had a solution. However, one guy on a forum or website said something that gave me an idea - he said something like: What's the problem? Just open it up, hit the power button, type your password, and it wakes up.

Well, that didn't seem helpful to me at the time that I read it, but after thinking about it, I had a hunch. I had not set up my netbook to have a password (yet). So I did. And it's been waking up from sleep mode like it should ever since!!!

Hopefully, if you're reading this, setting a password will work for you, too. If you don't know how to set a password, here goes... Start...Control Panel...User Accounts...Change an Account...[Pick your name.account]...then the option to create a password should come up. Let us know if this works for you!

I figured out that in the Power Options, you could not have it set to "Never" go into standby. I switched both "System Stadby's", when plugged in and when running on batteries to "After 5 Hours". I was able to get it to power up out of Standby the way it should, by just pressing and releasing the power button.

Hi,
Pressing the power button once (not holding) is the only way to resume from sleep mode.
You can choose how long it waits until Sleep, to Never, in the Power Options.

Hope this answers your question.

My LG optimus keeps getting stuck in sleep mode. When I turn it on it seems fine but once it enters sleep mode it won't turn back on. I have to restart the phone to get a picture again. Any tips?

Is it ''sleep'' mode or ''Hibernate'' mode? If ''Hibernate'', then that is the problem. Turn off ''hibernate.'' If it is in fact just ''sleep'' mode, check to see if it is set for ''enter password to exit sleep'' _and_ you don't have a password set up... then either create a password or set it so that it does not require a password upon exiting sleep. Also, you can always resort to resetting everything to ''default'' settings. (This will not effect any data on the phone, and you can take your time setting all the settings ''just right'').

Acer aspire one, won't wake up from sleep mode, screen blank

I'm having the same problem, but I don't want to have to turn off my computer EVERY time it does this. (I have not been able to shut down the laptop normally because it goes into sleep every time.) I've heard that after 3 hours it builds up an eletrical charge and you have to take the battery out, but I havn't had it on for 3 hours at a time.

When you turn on your laptop do you see the P.O.S.T screen or it just remains blank? and also while booting up do you get any beep sound?
Try to boot your computer in Safe Mode by Tapping F2 (or Del in few laptops) key after pushing Power Button.
let me know what happens.

Aspire one with windows XP. Won't turn back on while in sleep mod

I've had spotty luck with Windows and sleep or hibernate modes. I would suggest just disabling sleep/hibernate mode. The options can be found under the control panel under power options. While turning off the sleep mode won't help your battery life, if you ask me, it beats having to power off the laptop by pulling the battery out. If you don't want to turn it off, you can try adjusting the amount of time it lets pass before it goes to slee.

Delay in Monitor display once the system goes in sleep mode

Instead of sleep mode, tyr hibernate. It is generally faster except the whole computer shuts down. When you power back up, you're exactly where you were. Mine takes about 30 seconds.

do you leave the laptop open or close when you are no using it?
if you leave it open, there is a switch at the top of the F keys, close to the LCD panel. press that button will turn on the the machine. if not, press the enter key twice and wait 10 sec. it should come up.
