Changing my car's GPS POI (preloaded destination)

Hello-

I have this GPS device in my car. This car was previously being used in Japan. I bought it and imported it to my home town Karachi, a place near India. This screen of the GPS device only displays Japanese language which i do not understand. The GPS of this car, i assume, would be having a preloaded destination or POI. Can somone advise how can i activate the GPS this device. Can someone tell how to change the POI to my city whereabouts.

Secondly, would it be needing a GPRS connection to communicate with the Tom Tom sats. I have a windows mobile which also have the googles Maps on it. Can i have this windows mobile syncronized with this car GPS hardware. If yes, how could it be done ? Further, can you someone also advise how to change the language from Janpanese to English.

Thanking you in advance.

Imran Aleem.

Use the back or menu buttons until you reach the main Mio Map Screen. It should say Mio Map V3.3. It will have 6 big button options and two small options in the upper right hand corner. Chose the tools option(small hammer/wrench). You will have a screen with six big buttons again. One of them is "General" and it looks like a couple of sprockets/cogs. Choose that option. Then pick "set favorite destinations" close to the bottom of the screen. It should be straightforward from there. Hope this helps.

How to put in address to pick up someone?

Would like to know what model you have, but have you tried typing the address in as a new destination? or try adding it as a POI(points of interest)? You may need to remove some old address's and or POI's to make more room if you can not enter it. Thanks for using FixYa

How do I save a destination and reselect in the future

I am glad to HELP YOU!

You will find the previous destination every time when you will select RECENT PLACES/DESTINATIONS.
But if you want to have it alays as a waypoint you have to do like this: once you have input the coordinates of it just tap on that destination [to select it] and give it a name by saving it in POI/FAVORITES.

GOOD LUCK!

How do I find POI for a city that I am going to visit ? I can only find POI within my vicinity. I went to where am I then programmed the new city I was going to be in but it kept looking for an address....

Hello,

To find distant POI's or one close to your destination all that you need to do is when in the "Points of Interest" section under "Where To?" change the near setting to recent destination or any of the other selections.

Hope this helps!

I just received the tomtom540xxls.Are the europe maps preloaded?

No, there are no Europe maps preloaded on the tom tom 540 xxls gps device. You will have to load the maps on it by yourself. The reason it is not preloaded is because, you might be purchasing the device in Canada and shipping it to any other destinations, therefore if a specific kind of map is on it, it might not be suitable for the area you are taking to.
Hope this information helped.
