My guess is legend is some sort of hint set by the previous user. You may want to quickly try various forms of the phrase I AM which may refer to the movie I AM LEGEND and some sort of cocky personality complex of the prior owner as well.

If you are unable to guess the password might I suggest taking the unit to a service center or some repair shop? You'll be able to convince them to provide you a copy of Vista burned to a disc as you have that version on there now. There is some law that makes that legal and possible. You couldn't however attain a copy of XP for free. If they're nice they'll burn it for you and charge you only for the cd itself.

Oh I assumed when you described the background and used the term/name jack that you were referring to the previous owner and their settings.

Why not give "Toshiba" a shot?

Hi I have Dell inspiron 1720 (17 inches) laptop with intel centrino- window vista ultimate OS Problem: after system boots up, just before windows login, it comes "Please wait" and again it...

That's an interesting problem. It sounds like it's applying new display settings, but I'm not sure why it would do so over and over again. I would suggest trying to start Windows in "Safe Mode". To do that, as the computer is booting, hold down the F8 key to get the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. Maybe this will get you to a normal login screen. If so, you should try to change your display settings to the simplest possible and then reboot. I hope this helps.

Toshiba Laptop - Startup freeze 40% of the time.

its a common thing for a vista based system to freeze after some updates , and my good advice to you is you better dont place too many applications on the startup , and avoid unwanted updating , ie8 is one such thing . if u have an option better switch to windows 7 , its really fast on notebook computers . install only defender updates from windows.
