Could be a fuse that blew. check your fuses. if not the fuse then a wire somewhere is lose and need to be hooked back up. or it could be touching metal.... the wire that is.

The brake light switch at your pedal is defective, or more likely, the wire at the connector broke or came loose. If you need to move it in an emergency, turn off the car, place it in neutral, and start it. Mind you that you still will not have brake lights. The switch is an easy fix.

SOURCE: 1995 ford mustang break lights do not work.

get a manuel from an auto parts store. in this manuel it will have etm(electrical troubleshooting manuel) it shows the brake lights and wires colors of wires. trace the wire color from the fuse using the diagram. purchase a test light from wal mart to see if your wire has power. if it does there may be a bad connection or component but hte etm shoud show you what components are on the circuit.any questions email me at [email protected]

I installed a new turn signal switch in the steering column, and it fixed my brake light problem. Evidentally the turn signal and brake light wires use the same plug wires. It cost about $70. I would suggest doing this.

SOURCE: mustang brake lights dont work

this car has a brake light switch on the pedal check for power in and out. if in and not out change switch. also I believe their is a relay under the hood . then check to see if the multifunction and hazard switch control brake lights i cant remember if they do like gm's but i am also almost sure they do the multifunction is your turn signal wiper arm that goes into steering wheel . after you check the brake switch and relay have some one jiggle the hazard and multi while pressing the brakes see if they come on. you can call ford and ask them about the multi and hazard .

SOURCE: brake lights stopped working 1998 mustang

Fuse panel is under the dash also as I have found with my own graceful daughter, there is a brake light switch that connects to the brake pedal itself. It is hard to get to and even harder to see but a lot of times these switches get bumped and they can not make connection when the brake pedal is depressed. Hope this helps

Brake lights on my 2000 Ford mustang won't work and fuses are fine and already replaced stop light switch. I'm stumped.

Does your high mount brake light work, if so then the multi function switch may be the problem. The brake lights work through it.

99 mustang wont start when I press the brake pedal but if I just pull e-brake it will start. Have new battery. Also dome light goes dim when I press brake pedal.

You have a short in the brake system wires. Id start disconnecting everything one at a time until the dimming goes away. Then that component will be your issue. Whether it has failed or the wires going to it are shorted will depend on diagnostics and what it shows.

99 svt brake lights

Check the fuses in the fuse box. Use the diagram on the back of the cover. also check to see if there is power to them by using a light bulb tester. That should determine if you have a short or a cut wire somewhere.
