Check with another dvd you know the region.
check same dvd on another (not region 2) player and see if itsn't working.
find if you have to follow special instruction to activate the "all region"feature.
find on line instructions do remove the region lock.
confirm make /model/ sn where you bought it and I can help to find instruction.

I have a dvd from England and my old Sony DVP-C670D keeps giving me a prohibited message4 every time i try to play it. How do i unblock the region code.

Hi there,

Although no guarantee, this 'region hack' is rumoured to work:

1. Place the DVD player into 'standby' mode.

2. Using the Sony remote, press the following button sequence: Title; Clear; Power (green button); 0 (zero button)

3. Using the remote, Open the disc tray, then close again.

Now insert your disc and attempt to play - allow up to 2mins to load/play. If no response, open/close tray and try playing disc again.

Cheers,

I have just bought a Toshiba SD590EKB dvd player and it will not play certain discs, it keeps on saying wrong regional code. How can I solve this problem?

Check the back of the dvd player and it will have a small sticker with a small picture of a globe (or earth) and it will have a number being one through to six, this will determine what region discs you can play in you machine. Ill list the regions and their codes, i hope this helps.

Region 1 - The U.S., U.S. territories and Canada.

Region 2 - Europe*, Japan, Middle East, Egypt, South Africa, Greenland.

Region 3 - Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong .

Region 4 - Mexico, South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific. Islands, Caribbean

Region 5 - Russia (former USSR), Eastern Europe, India, most of Africa, North Korea, Mongolia

Region 6 - China

Good luck.

Wrong region

HELLO!
On the face of this problem it sounds like the machine is set to a region other than the discs you're trying to play. Here is something that might just help you.
To multi-region your machine:

press Setup
select the Preference Tab
Press 1,3,8,9,3,1
Press up/down key to select "0"
and press menu to exit.

This way you are telling the machine to look for ALL regions. I hope this is the answer for you.
ALL THE BEST!

Trying to play dvd but says wrong region soneynhv-dx350ab?

Hi, if its saying wrong region. then either your player or disk is incompatable. region 1 ntsc ( USA ) Region 2 ( UK ) et,c. check your players region coding is compatable for your country, and that you are also playing a dvd with the same region coding as the player. alternatively is to try and find a region free or multi-region solution. Philips 7" DVD portable player

The PET702 will be a region 5 machine, whereas the UK DVDs are region 2.

DVD players from a particular region are designed to play only DVDs from the same region, due to copyright and distribution rights in each country or region.

However the PET702 can have the region protection removed by making it multi-region:

Switch on the PET702 and Open the tray.

Press SETUP button on the remote control, which will bring up the menu.

Highlight "PREFERENCES" and press OK.
coolsmiley.gif
Press [2], [5], [2], [3], [1], [5], [LEFT], [DOWN]

The screen will show: "Region Code: 2"
Press [1-6] to manually set the region OR [0] for multi-region.
coolsmiley.gif
Press [SETUP] to exit winksmiley.gif

You will now be able to play DVDs from anywhere in the world.

This is particularly useful, because region 1 DVDs from the US often come out when the movies are still in the cinemas over here. Region 1 DVDs can be bought perfectly legally by mail order or from the internet.
