D-Link Dir 600 Wireless disconnects

Hello people. I have a very annoying trouble with my wiresless d-link router. Everytime I reset it, the wireless connection works for like 3-4 minutes then disconnects. I tried to use a ethernet cable between my dlink and the computer and it doesn't work either BUT when I use a ethernet cable between my modem (netgear) and computer I can access internet without any problem. So it is something with my dlink dir 600. I dont know what has occured since it worked fine 3-4 days ago....Please let me know what I can do since I am moving abroad and need to solve this problem for my family..... Thanks...

Sounds like you have a bad device. Can you return it? Is it under warranty? You have changed cables, check pins in the DLink connector for bent pins? etc. I use a little vaseline on the copper to prevent oxidation, sounds weird, I know, but it works. I live it a humid climate. Try a Contact Spray for electronics, it's a life saver.

SOURCE: Really unstable Dlink dir-655 router

I would suggest you try to change the channel to a higher one and this solves this problem most of the times...You need to go to your router configuration to do that usually by opening a browser and type 192.168 ... and log in into your router...Hope this helps.

SOURCE: dlink DIR-615 wireless connection problem

hi. with regards to your concern. there is a possibility that the wireless network adapter driver is corrupted.. try uninstalling the driver for your wireless adapter and reinstall again. once setup is done, view the available wireless connection and connect.. it will ask u the password if there is..then it will connect. if this solution dont work.. try to check your wireless settings, maybe there is a problem on the settings..

SOURCE: Problem for D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router, Orange Power Light

I have had multiple problems with these routers. They tend to drop signals or have other issues that are hard to explain in a few short sentences.
After you rebooted did you open your browser and type in the IP address to connect to the router software?

can you be more specific?

I can login but I have forgotten my password

If you can login, either your browser has stored the login settings or the DIR-600 still has the default settings. Change them to something more secure!

Here are the default settings for the D-Link DIR-600:

D-LINK DIR-600 wireless 150, keeps disconnecting after a few minutes. Then, I have to wait long periods of time before I am able to reinitialize it. Then, the same thing occurs. This is getting old.

That model was discontinued on 12/2009. It's an old router and may be overheating, a problem with home routers. Try resetting the router. If you unplug the router as opposed to resetting (reinitializing) it may fix the problem. Unplugging resets the router to factory default settings.
Good luck.
