memory stick is necessary to store picture and without memory you can take One picture just to check / test and can not be saved in camera memory.

Take out memory stick and power up camera, if you are not getting ' no memory' sign / message in LCD then camera has approx 32mb memory and can take 8-10 pictures.

This model came out in 2004 and has now been superceeded. Originally came with a 16mb sony memory stick which is the minimum you need to operate features including video clips etc.,

I have a dsc-w150 digital camera, no usb cord. how can i transfer my pictures to laptop?

You'll need a card reader to transfer the data to your PC.
These days most laptops and printer has built in card reader. But since Sony camera's use memory stick, some of them don't support memory stick. So,
  • First check whether or not your printer or laptop has memory stick support, if has then use it to transfer you images. Otherwise you've to purchase a memory card reader with memory stick read support[should be available on any nearby electronic shop].
  • Then remove your memory stick from your camera and connect it with your laptop.
  • Open the memory card and copy your images.

My memory card says that it needs to be formatted

If you have a memory card reader built into the computer, printer or by itself insert the memory card and see if the pics come up to transfer over. Lots of stores like Walgreens/Rite Aid/Savon have print machines you can stick the mem card in to print pics and backup to CD/DVD for a few dollars.

Internal memory

Hi,
Insert memory card in camera, go to camera menu, there is option Copy, select copy and transfer images from internal memory to memory stick.
2nd option is connect camera to computer by usb link without memory stick, go to my computer then removable disk, then picture folder, copy pictures and paste them on My Pictures.
Need further help, let me know.

Sony cybershot dsc-p41

Hopefully it’s just a memory stick that has gone bad, do you have another memory stick to try? If it continues to format errors the stick “reader” inside the camera has been damaged.

Memory stick duo not showing pictures

It may be that you actually have the pictures stored on the camera's onboard memory and you may have to plug the camera in directly to access the pictures. Or Sony may have a strange way of accessing the files on the device (they have done the same with their MP3 players), so you may be limited to using their software to get the pictures off the camera (or memory stick).
