Bought graphics card upgrade yet will not detect

Hi,

i bought a nvidia geforce 9800ct 512m card for my computer. when i plug in the pci card, i keep getting a code 12 error. i have tried disabling the onboard but i just get a black screen. i have tried to update my bios but the uploader keeps crashing.
the error 12 is on the pci to pci bus controller. once card is removed the error is gone.

my computer

p5vd2-vm-se
3gigs ram
dual core 2ghz
500watt power

confused to how to fix this, my knowledge is low and everything i have read does not help.

hopefully someone here can

My video adapter is unavailable. It looks like graphic card is not working at all, I can log into my Win7 desktop, but drivers just wont work, even after reinstall.

Open the case and double check its pushed into the slot all the way. Go into the Bios and make sure your selecting the correct port first PCI or PCIex.
Change the video boards slot on the motherboard.
Hope this helps!

Nvidia geforce g210

1.5.1 Graphics Subsystem
The board contains two separate, mutually exclusive graphics options. Either the integrated
graphics processor (contained within the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Northbridge) is used, or a PCI
Express x16 add-in card can be used. When a PCI Express x16 add-in card is installed, the ATI
Radeon Xpress 200 Northbridge graphics controller is disabled.

Can an EliteGroup 945GCT-M3 run a Geforce 440 GT graphics card?

AS it GEFORCE 440 requires (pci express) PCI-E 2.0 x 16 and your motherboard has 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, so you just need to check your motherboards manual if motherboards pci express is x16 2.0 if so, you can go for a upgrade and run. as I found itcan run nvidia geforce 8 or 9 on fixya.

Biostar N68s3b not detecting graphics card

If you're sure that the card is seated properly and any extra power sockets on the card are powered up then the problem will be bios related. Enter bios and make sure that the onboard graphics are turned off and the PCI graphics are enabled...

Graphic card problem

Sure you can upgrade and put a new graphics card in one of the pci slots.

Try Tiger Direct for graphics cards at:

http://www.tigerdirect.com

When the site comes up just put in Video Graphics Card in the search box and press GO. You can sort the list Price Low to High.
