Question about HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Each time I activate computer it prints out a test page

It eats up all my ink. What do you suggest I do? Thanks, Margie

    Are you saying everytime you boot up the PC it prints out a test page from the printer? If you unplug the printer and boot up, then plug it back in does it do the same thing? Is it connected via USB or parallel cables? What OS do you have?

With a lot of the all in one printers they want to scan the test page aftert printing to check the alignment. Next time it prints out a page, if a dialogue box appears saying scan now with the option of scan or cancel, select scan. If a dialogue box does not appear, check the menu on the software and look for alignment. That should fix it.

I replace my cartridges it says refer to printer documentation and will not print


These types of severe HP 74 black or HP 75 color ink cartridge errors (i.e. refer to documentation / incompatible cartridges, print cartridge(s) problem, etc.) typically indicate the internal micro electronics of the respective HP 74 black or HP 75 color cartridge are damaged. The cartridges electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge, are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal micro electronics failure. I suggest you first run a Tap 41 diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a special forced service test, refer to video so you understand how to read the print out). You may also bypass the error (temporarily) on most models which use HP 74/75 cartridges.

NOTE: Unfortunately, alignment pages and internal self test prints will usually print Ok even if the cartridge is internally electrically damaged. Do not use these test pages as a proxy for determining whether a cartridge is good or bad, only the 'Tap 41/43' diagnostic test report can yield this information.


CONTACT CLEANING / SERVICE TEST DIAGNOSTICS:

3. The self test page should print. The printed pattern will verify printer is generally functional

Printing ok from computer but photocopier printing very faded


Select "Copy" from the touchscreen and then select "Settings..." Adjust the "Lighter/Darker" setting and see if that helps.

Hp J5780 all in one - I cannot get the printer to attach to the bottom portion.


Regarding your recent inquiry about the HP 74, 75, 74XL or 75XL ink cartridge error message ("Cartridges Not Aligned" or similar printer alert condition) and inability to print with your HP OJ J578 printer, this type of error is normally associated to an electrical connection issue between the printer and the cartridge, or more likely, an internal micro-electronic failure inside one of the ink cartridges (.....it is very rare for both cartridges to fail at the same time). An electronic failure of the cartridge would be unrelated to the ink cartridge refill process; these same failures can (and frequently do) occur with brand new ink cartridges.* To help identify the root cause, and to confirm/determine which of the two ink cartridges is causing the failure condition, please run the 'Tap 41' cartridge's electrical diagnostic test below (refer to C.)

Please first verify the age of the ink cartridge(s)....look at imprinted date on front of ink cartridge. If this 'warranty expiration date' has expired, then potential internal electrical cartridge failures can occur due to internal corrosion, etc.

How to reset inkje even with new refilled cartridge

Not printing just sending out blank paper sounds as though it printing


if you have the full software package installed go into the computer interface by double clicking that printer under start, printers and faxes and select the printer. In the popup that appears, select properties and print a test page. If it still doesn't print, use the troubleshooter which should suggest cleaning the printheads (beware this eats up ink). If it still doesn't print and the printer is used often, it needs a new printhead (or you need a new printer if you price it - but that's up to you). Printheads that aren't often used clog and ones that are used alot tend to wear out in about a year.

Unable to print any thing


Hi,
Remove and re-insert the cartridges.
while plugged in.
Clean nozzles, printhead, align etc...
print a test page off
Easyshare are known for eating ink up,
the ink could be all gone.
possible bad cartridge, swap out.

Take the test page ( also called : alighnment page ) that always prints when you switch on the printer and place it face down in the scanner.

Then press the scan button on the printer itself.
(this is the button at the bottom of all the buttons on the printer/scanner.)

Make sure that the printer scans the test page.
( sometimes you press the butoon and it doesn't scan )
( it makes a scanning noise when scanning succesfully )


Then it will stop printing the test page ( alignment page ) ever again.

This is a really stupid product feature on HP's part to waste ink and force people to buy more cartriges.

Printer prints test page each time printer is turned on


There may be something initialised to print a test page everytime it starts, just remove printer, uninstall driver and re start. Re install drivers and connect printer when prompted or when installation has finished. This should revert to default settings.

My printer keeps printing the test page every time it's switched on


I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy until I did this. Please follow exactly and IN ORDER.

1. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

2. Let the printer print the test page.

3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)
