is your lifecam new? or it has been a long time, if it is already been a long time, maybe its lens deteriorated. You need to have your unit be checked by a professional computer technician.

But first! try to update your driver at the device manager. In ordert to do this, right click the my computer icon on the desktop, click properties, then click hardware, and then click device manager.

After you click device manager, pull out the usb plug of your lifecam, and see if there's something change, after pulling it out, plug it again, and see if the device mananager detects, if it has detected. right click the name of your lifecam at the device manager and then right click of it, and click update driver, then click this time only, then click next. but first you have to put its cd driver on the cd rom. see if it works

My emachine will burn a dvd, but the sound wont work with it. It used to work fine and suddenly, it wont work. Its not the file, because on one dvd, the sound was working fine, and halfway through it it...

sounds like the disk - not the recorder - - try cleaning the disk with windex -
also - try removing the DVD player from the list of divices -
go to divice manager - look for the DVD player - recorder - etc - - and select REMOVE - this will force the pc to reload the drivers for your unit.

I would reload the software for that and also check to see if you need to be upgraded for your video card, RAM & internet explorer....

U Tube has a host of fixes, but none worked for me.

One suggests popping the cover off and checking the terminal where the A/V connections go into the little PC board while listening for improvements.

Another tries other USB ports, another thinks you need to uninstall the whole thing, reboot, then
creep around in the memory startup variables and get rid of it all,

Still wondering if the damn things are mega defective. Pictures are real nice though.

Can you use the logitech quickcam express camera to take videos? & how?

You will need the software that came with the camera, Image Studio. The software contains a menu that lets u open up a program to record video using the webcam. You can download the webcams software from the provided link
    http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/l...
If u have the software for the cam then all u do is install it and select Image Studio, from there u have a menu that says take a picture or record a video, select the video. The button ontop of the cam is to take pictures.
Not sure if this is the model

If the Image studio doesn't open then all u do is open up Logitech Gallery..

How do i turn on my webcam

Yes, you can use the WebCam through QuickPlay, and yes, it works under Vista.

To access QuickPlay, just press the "blue QuickPlay button" next to the power button. If it doesn't load QuickPlay, just do "Start" - "All Programs" - then you will see QuickPlay listed there. If you still can't find it just do a search, you will find the short-cut.

Once launched QuickPlay, click on the 2nd icon from left (between DVD and TV icon), then double-click on "HP Pavilion WebCam" from the left side panel, then you will see the blue LED light lit and you should see yourself on the screen. (Double-click "yourself" to enlarge image)

To take a picture or record video, just press the corresponding buttons on the top. (the red circle icon is for recording video (press "Stop" icon to stop recording), the camera icon is for, well, camera)
Videos and pictures are saved at:
    Pictures -- C:\Users\Public\Pictures\My Snapshots
    Videos -- C:\Users\Public\Videos\HP Webcam
