Question about Nokia E90 Cell Phone (Unlocked) - Black
The @ symbol simply means that a new message has been received in the "remote mailbox". If you are using Mail for Exhange this sometimes comes on when it is syncing because some of the default mailbox functionality is being "passed through" by the application. Or... you could have a remote mailbox set up and have a new message in it :)
look in menu - messaging - settings - email to see what mailboxes you have configured. Also, keep in mind that some apps for nokia may be triggering the @ symbol if they are utilizing the native messaging features of the S60 OS.

SOURCE: nokia E90 can't be switched on
I had the same problem. You will see that if you remove the sim card, and switch the phone on then, it works fine. You are going to have to upgrade your sim card, which is causing the problem.
Do that, and problem solved :-)
