Update your printer drivers, and quickbooks to the latest versions. A quick round about solution is to install a pdf printer (bullzip pdf or pdf forge) and print the report to that printer to create a pdf. Then print the pdf with your 1320c printer.

I have a Veratec desktop computer and am having all kinds of problems with it. It is one year old. Will not communicate with my dell printer A920 and is difficult to operate otherwise. Please help.

Well what operating system do you have on it? Windows7 doesnt like some printers. check online for print drivers and update them. Follow this link to help you with that... http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=DSN_FA36C542525D975EE030030ABD621881&isLegacy=true
you can also try this approach... First, let's make sure your computer has the latest Windows Updates, especially .net framework, needed to run many applications and the latest Java.

Disconnect your printer.

Download and run this patch (***WARNING*** The patch for this printer also removes other Dell applications, like Dell Dock, Dell QuickSet and other Dell applications)(These applications can be downloaded at Drivers & Downloads and can be reinstalled) to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch(A MUST on Vista Machines) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

If using Windows 7 also try...Manual Printer Driver Removal

Restart your computer.

Download the proper drivers.

XP Drivers

Vista 32-bit Drivers

Vista 64-bit drivers

All other drivers

Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer(powered on)

***To install drivers, sometimes the file unzips and does nothing. You have to look for the setup.exe file, right click on it, then left click run as administrator***

If using Windows 7, use the Vista drivers in the compatibility mode.

Right click on the setup.exe file, left click properties, left click compatibility. Change the compatibility to Vista(Try Vista SP2). Then install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect the printer(powered on)

***To install drivers, sometimes the file unzips and does nothing. You have to look for the setup.exe file, right click on it, then left click run as administrator***

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

How do I upgrade or reprogram my dell latitude d630 without a recovery disk? please help

You don't need a manufacturer's recovery set except to put back the exact same stuff as was originally installed, much of which you don't need anyway. Your computer will have a valid Windows product key sticker on it, and you can reinstall Windows using a regular installation CD.

You'll need a CD for the same version of Windows that was preinstalled. You will also need the drivers for your computer's hardware (video, audio, network interface, etc.), which you can download from Dell's website.

Insert the Windows CD and boot the computer from it. (Most computers are set to boot from the CD drive if there's a disc in, but you may have to change the boot order if your computer always tries the hard drive first.) At one point you'll need to enter the Windows product key; use the one on the sticker on your computer. Later, after the installation is all finished, you'll need to go through activating your Windows copy. These steps aren't needed with the factory restore disc, but it's only a minor inconvenience.

After Windows is installed, install the hardware drivers you downloaded. Most drivers are packed as executable programs. Run them and they automatically install whatever Windows needs. When you're done, your computer will be ready to go.

Your computer won't have any of the applications that were preinstalled, but it's normally stuff you can live without anyway. You can find free or low-cost applications for just about anything you want to do. For antivirus programs there's Avast!, AVG, and Avira for starters. Some CD/DVD burning software applications are CDBurnerXP or InfraRecorder. OpenOffice is a great alternative to Microsoft's Office suite. In short, you're able to put on just what you need, and to pick from the many options available.

Don't let the process scare you. It's actually quite simple and the result is worth it. Good luck with your restore, and thanks for using Fixya!

Unable to restore computers original factory settings with Dells suggestion of control f11 when computer starts up

If you have already used the cd's to install the os, this will not work. there is another option which you can try.

Manual Reinstallation

Manual reinstallation can be the most time consuming and difficult method of those available. You will reinstall the operating system directly from the CD or DVD, install the drivers, configure the OS, install critical and recommended updates, install your applications and, if available, restore backed up data files. Time to Complete: 120+ Minutes.

1. Remove non-essential peripherals
like:
  • Scanner
  • Printer
  • Modem or Network cables
  • Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
  • USB flash drive or other external Hard Drive
  • Any other external devices (e.g., USB-attached devices)
  • Remove the computer from the docking station, if you are using one.

  • Check to ensure that all your installation media is available. You will need the following:
  • The Dell™ Reinstallation CD for Microsoft® Windows® XP, or
  • The Dell™ Reinstallation DVD for Windows® Vista,

    • The Dell Resource CD/DVD,
Reinstall the operating system from the OS Setup Disk.
Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD drive, and then restart your computer.
and watch for the Dell logo to appear.
When the Dell logo appears, press the <F12> key to load the Boot Menu. If the menu does not appear, restart the system and tap <F12> several times at the Dell logo screen.
When the Boot Menu appears, highlight the CD/DVD drive (listed as "CDROM", "CD/DVD" or "CD/DVD/CD-RW") entry from the list and press <Enter>.
If the message Press any key to boot from the CD... appears, press a key to continue booting to the CD.
In the Windows XP Setup screen press <Enter> to set up Windows XP.
In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, read the license agreement, and then press <Page Down> to scroll through the agreement.
Press <F8> to accept the terms and conditions specified in the license agreement
Highlight the largest partition and press <Enter>.
If you are prompted to format the partition, use the up or down arrow keys to highlight Format the partition using the NTFS file system (Quick). Press <Enter> or <F>, if applicable, to format the partition. In cases where the drive must be checked for errors, select the Format the partition using the NTFS file system option.
Setup will format the drive, if necessary, then copy the files needed for installation. This process can take several minutes. Once done, Windows will restart the computer to continue Setup from the hard drive.
    Note:
Do not press any keys if the message Press any key to boot from the CD appears. The amount of time it takes to complete the above process varies,
depending on the speed and size of the computer. (it may happen if the computer restarts during the process, just wait and watch)
After the computer restarts, Setup continues with a graphical user interface (GUI) in the classic Windows theme. In this stage, you are asked to input information to personalize your installation. Your screen may blink several times during this process, which is normal. The information to input, and the order it is provided, is shown below:
Click Next on the Regional and Language Options window.
In the Personalize Your Software screen, type your name in the Name: field and your organization's name in the Organization: field, if applicable, and click Next.
In the Computer Name screen, type the computer name in the Computer Name: field if you want to change it from the name provided. For Windows XP Professional Edition users, type a password in the Administrator Password: field and then type the same password in the Confirm Password: field.
    Click Next.
    Note:
If the Modem Dialing Information screen appears follow the instructions below, otherwise continue on:
In the Modem Dialing Information screen, click to select the correct country/region for the What Country/Region are you in now? box.
Type your area code in the What area code (or city code) are you in now? box and the number in the If you dial a number to reach an outside line, what is it? box, if applicable.
Click to select one of the items below for The phone system at this location uses: box:
Tone dialing if your phone service uses tone dialing.
Pulse dialing if your phone service uses pulse dialing.

    Click Next.
In the Date and Time Settings screen, verify that the correct Date, Time, and Time Zone appear, and click Next.
In the Networking Settings screen, click to select Typical, and click Next. If available, click Skip to skip the networking setup section. For Windows XP Professional users, click to select No, this computer is not on a network..., and click Next.
Setup will finalize the installation and should complete within 30 minutes of this point. Once complete, the computer will restart.
    Note:
If you see the message Press any key to boot from the CD when the computer restarts, do not press any keys on the keyboard.
After the computer reboots, the newly installed operating system will attempt to configure itself for your detected devices, however many of your device drivers are not yet installed. Use the following to finish the configuration and prepare the computer for driver installation:
If the Display Settings message appears, click OK.
If a Monitor Settings message appears, click OK.
In the Welcome to Microsoft Windows window, click Next.
In the registration screen, click to select No, not at this time and click Next. You will be prompted to register your computer again later.
In the Do you want to set up Internet access now? window, click to select No, not at this time and click Next.
In the Who will use this computer? window, type the user name of your choice in the Your name: text box. Type the name of any additional Users that will be using the computer in the additional text boxes provided.
    Click Next to continue.
    Click Finish.

Windows XP now starts for the first time and is ready for driver installation.
