If the slot cover element of the video card is too tall to screw down and place the cover on then you have a 'small form factor' desktop PC or even an "Ultra Slim" form factor.

These smaller than normal PCs require a small form factor video card.

Is this correct? Or is there something I missed that you can fill me in with on detail?

If you do have a small form factor desktop with an AGP slot I can recommend a card for you that won't break the bank. But, Compaq made a 'Small Form Factor" and an "Ultra Slim" I would need to know which so the card fits correctly. This information should be on a label at the back of your PC.

Thanks, and let me know. I'm here to help.

Yes Compaq released this model in a Tower model. If you can purchase the chassis or not is a point in question.

Go to this page here to see the product. It is lying on its side. Down on the left list of links there ia a link to parts information. You will probably have to go to that page, find a link for help to speak to someone over the phone or email.

In the past, this has never come up to me, so I can't address whether their chassis is available. The option is to obtain a generic case. That solution requires a case that has the same power on and reset button wires that will translate to the motherboard pinouts. If the pinouts on teh motherboard are clearly labled you may be able to use a generic case. In the meantime, start at the page above and make contact with Compaq/HP over this problelm.

By the way, there are small form factor AGP cards from EVGA and XFX for the Geforce 6200 and that is a sweet card I have some myself.

Keep me informed or rate this if you feel we are done here. But, remember I am here to help so don't hesitate to leave this open and come back later for more assistance.

Let me know if you want to switch out with a generic mid tower chassis? For example do you have additional add in cards that would then be too short in a tower chasis? And would this mid tower chasis hold the power supply correctly.

These are all quesions best answered by a tech in a shop, a real shop, not Geek Squad or a similar service. They notoriously do not have well experienced techs. I wouls search out a small computer repair shop operated by the owner. You should be in good hands there unless they want an exorbitent amount of money to work on your system. Anything above $35-50 a hour is too high.

Desktop Casings are lower enough that can't be closed when inserting Cards like your Graphics card. Change your desktop casing to Tower Casing so you can freely install your Graphics card to the graphics card of your motherboard.

Hp compaq d530 400 watt power supply

You will not find a power supply for this case. Why would you want to upgrade such an old computer? Get yourself a new one with amply power for your needs. If you are one that upgrades regularly, get a standard case with standard components that can be upgraded without the hassle of replacing proprietary form-factor compnents.

ATI Radeon 9250 PCI card not recognised.

Make sure the slot isn't disabled either by jumper settings or in the bios, and the card is securely inserted in the slot. If these aren't the case, you have yourself a bad card, or a bad slot.

HP D530 Video card upgrade

If the HP D530 has an AGP slot, which I think it does, then yes you can install the Radeon HD 4350 card.
Make sure you have the correct driver for the video card.
