Question about Baby Lock BL1556
I have a babylock sewing machine with a one step buttonholer but the threads keep jamming and i don't have the manual for it. is there any specific way to thread it or is there anything wrong with it? i have tons of buttonholes to do for school projects and its a hassle to try to do them all on the school machines. thanks so much
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: buttonhole lever
If you remove the cover on the upper left portion of the machine, while looking from the left to the right.....Above the BH lever area, you will see a round cam with a post through the middle. Rotate the round can ( with fingers on it), and try again. This will change the angle position on the lever, and hopefully correct your problem. You may have to go a couple of clicks in either direction.

You probably are in need of a new bobbin case they are plastic and oif you have broken a needle lately it may have gouged the case and the top thread is getting caught and bunching up underneath. Visit www.stevessewandvac.com you can contact them and have a bobbin case sent to you.

go to link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YL433PhG05c
a vidio is here that will show you the route to follow for your automatic threading to work. You may need to watch it a few times as it is demonstrated very quickly near the begining only once.

I found that the tension setting of 1 worked. The main problem was the machine had thread wound around behind the bobbin. I had to take the plates that are under the foot out, clean out the thread, oil the machine and use a spool of thread that had more weight than the little spool I was trying to use.

Have you reset the tensions for this machine, look in your manual and follow directions. If this is an Elegante there is also a set of instructions on the machine. On the LCD screen there is a picture of a sewing machine with a question mark, touch it, find Troubleshooting and touch that then find the problem you are having and read. If this does not help take it to a Brother dealer and have it reset so as to keep you machine in good running order.
