Question about Sun Java Studio Standard 5 (SSJI9501TL9M) for PC, , Linux

I screwed up my Sun java

I just started using Linux. I have a Gos powered by Ubuntu 7.10. My browser is Firefox 2.0.0.19. Here is my problem......somehow while using Kleansweep (file cleaner)my Sun java got screwed up. I really only need it for pogo games (yeah i know), but I am lost when it comes to working with root and sun website is really confusing. When I type aboutlugins in my browser (some page told me to) it says Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0_13-b05 and all 31boxes are checked Enabled - yes. When I log into pogo, the games wont load anymore(they used to)but it gives a tester that says java is working correctly. I am stuck and dont know what to do. Remember I am a newbie, so try to not get too technical, OK? Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me, I feel like an idiot

Connect your PC to the internet and type the following

"sudo apt-get update " this command will first update your system.
then type
"sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre "

I get as far as showing the POGO homepage, which uses Java, but the games won't load

Install the latest version of Java.
Try it in mozilla firefox. If you are IE than make sure your java is enabled you are using the IE8 or later version.

Hi!

Depends on what you need. If you are programming you need the SDK. For just normal usage you need the JRE.

Try downloading the latest from here
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

If you are unsure download bothe the JDK and the JRE.

I hope this helps.

How to install jdk1.6

download the Java Development Kit for your specific operating system from the sun java website. For windows, the installer will be an executable file so just run it and follow the prompts.

For linux, ubuntu or debian, Download the jdk bin file. Go to your terminal or konsole then set yourself as a super user and run the file by typing ./jdkxxxxxx.bin or whatever your bin file was. For mandriva and red hat, download the .rpm.bin file. run the bin file and it will load the rpm file. Just follow the steps.

For Mac. I think Mac does not support that version yet.

I hope this helps.

I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH JAVA ALL NIGHT LAST NIGHT AND TODAY SAYING NOT WORKING OR CANT FIND I HAD TOOK IT OFF AND RE LOAD IT 3 TIMES NOW STILL NOT WROKING GOT IE UP AND DOWNLOADED FIREFOX THINKING IE WAS...

Many times with java related problems you have to search for the java path and tell the browser of what ever program you are using for the java path. If you are using a windows operating system this is as easy as go to star t- search. If you are using a Linux machine this is a bit more involved.

Shut down all browser applications.

Uninstall the Java plugin.

Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp to get the latest version and install.

Java-problem in Firefox

I think they meant the software altogether.
Here's the link, just install.
If you already have java then repair your IE and reinstall Firefox.
Click Start, then Control Panel, then Add/Remove Program, go to Internet Explorer, right click IE then select repair.
Do the same thing for Mozilla Firefox, except this time uninstall then reinstall program.
That might work. Let me know.

Incase it's easier in Dutch:
Laat me het weten.

Can't update Java 1.1.4. Can't view Java or Suns web sites

Use JavaRA:

http://raproducts.org/

Works great for getting rid of older Java installs. Has links to the Java update pages inside the program too.

Also, try installing Firefox and use it to download Java installer.
