Question about EliteGroup ECS A780GM-A Motherboard - AMD 780G, Socket AM2+, ATX, Audio, Video, HDMI, PCI Express 2.0, Gigabit

1 Answer

Cannot start the computer, no reaction

I bought the A780GM-A v1.1 with the AMD 6400 dual processor.
I installed everything correct, now when I turn on the computer it starts but then the elitegroup screen comes on and then tells me to either press "DEL" to enter the BIOS or to press F11 to enter the bootup options (I do have a new HDD) now if I press any of thos two keys I get no reaction, first tought was that my keyboard wasn't working, I tried with 3 different ps keyboards and one usb keyboard (all being used by other computers so the're working) and none of the keyboards give me any reaction. I hope nothing is wrong with my board. Please help.

Thank you,

Akash

I even can not get to my boot selection, the whole computer freezes. The HDD is new and not partitioned, I couldn't do that because I could not get in the system.

I recently installed the same mother board with the old hhd running XP it started fine and worked for about a week. now I can't even boot up into the cmos setup! it just sits there with blue streaks across the screen, I even disconnected the HD and tried with the same results

When you say you have a new hard drive do you mean you already partitioned it and formatted it? It will not boot to your hard drive until a Master Boot Record is built. You have to boot to your operating system in the CD ROM, then follow directions to load onto the HDD.

Don't forget to rate this solution.

Processor Support (CPU Support),

AMD Phenom II X4 model 920, uses .0875 to 1.425 Volts, (DC),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Phenom_microprocessors#.22Deneb.22_.28C2.2FC3.2C_45_nm.2C_Quad-core.29

That is the average voltage range for the AMD Phenom II X 4 processor.

Look back at the AMD Phenom chart again on Wikipedia, and look especially at the voltage range for the 900e to the 945.
Now look at the ECS CPU Support page again, and you'll see your motherboard supports Phenom II X4 processors from 900e to 945.

Since the 910e and the 925 are supported, I know the technology of the 920 is supported.
The Core architecture and nanometer technology it is based on, is supported.
No BIOS update may be needed.

Yes is the answer.

[NOTE*
That processor can use up to 125 watts of power. You need a decent Power Supply.
That processor also gets H-O-T!
Make sure it has a GOOD cooling system, and the computer case inside, and the Power Supply, inside, are kept clean ]

hello sir, hi im afraid that the dragon plus has no AMD x2 (DUAL CORE) compatible CPU. if you want a dual core motherboard compatible, get the socket AM2 version for AMD or the LGA 775 for intel processor.

Hi there.
Error 10 means that the device cannot start.
This can be because the card itself is faulty or you have installed the wrong drivers for it.
Try to locate and install the drivers for it manually and see if it starts then.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Just put together A780GM-A MOBO With dual processor amd and used my harddrive from my old system. It comes up to cmos setup, but it won't boot to windows. It comes up with the screen that ask you if you...

That mean you if you put a hardisk into the mobo but you never format the disk along with the mobo you need to do so. you need to format/install win xp/vista on the hard drive so that it can work with the mobo.
So here is the point, if you have a new mobo, whenever you put hardisk on it, you must format the hardisk with win xp/vista.

Setting multi processors AMD Phenom X4 9550 on ECS A 780 GM-A

The Motherboard should automatically detect the type of CPU. Mine did. I started off with a dual core and went to a quad and did nothing. After replacing with the new quad core the CPU was automaticaaly recognized at start up and it required me to do nothing.
