SOURCE: Eureka Uno brush not spinning

There are 2 or 3 screws on the top to take out and the top cover will come off. Belt is #61120A U long life, brush roll if you need it is #62365-2. If the brushs look ok and the ends turn freely, then it is probably ok. The belt goes around the brush roll then up to the motor shaft.

Brushroll not spinning
Posted by vistaloopy on Mar 19, 2008
I have a Eureka Bagless Optima 431 Lightweight Upright that is not working. I took it apart to clean the brushroll and have tried to put it back together several times, but the brushroll will not spin anymore. Maybe I'm putting the belt in the wrong spot? Where can I find a diagram or something?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Eureka 431A Optima Bagless Upright Vacuum. You have only 2 choices, the belt is either side driven belt or the belt is a center driven belt and the brushroll has one side that is for the belt and the side driven brushroll and the motor pulley must be in line in order to work properly, you may want to check the bearing holders, some vacs will mark the ends with words like NEW or USED and both have to be identical in order to fit right. Once you have the brushroll out it should spin if you set it on it’s side and if that happens you are OK, then watch the ends of the brushroll. Align the end with the motor pulley, B4 install the belt place the belt on the pulley side and install the brushroll. Then once the brushroll is in and spins properly, and then you can use a belt puller and stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track it in a straight line. SOURCE: Reset button for Eureka 431 bagless upright???Where is it?!

If the red light is one the says "check brushroll" then you have to take it apart to find out what the problem is. It might be that the roll has too much stuff rapped around it so you have to take it out and clean. It could also be the rubber belt is not properly in place. Once you take the bottom off the belt should go on the far right side. Those are the only things i can think of. I have had mine for 3 years and have never seen a reset switch. Usually when my light comes on it is because there is a lot of hair rapped around my brush roll.

SOURCE: In Carpet setting, the vacuum brush does not spin

I put 3 turns of electrical tape around the area of the beater bar that meets the vacuum belt. This solved the problem short of replacing the beater bar.

How to replace the motor for the roller brush on the Eureka Optima upright lightweight 431

If you can hear the motor but the beater bar doesn't turn, it's the belt that needs replacing. If you don't hear a thing when it's plugged in and turned on, then you need a new vacuum. Besides, the part, if you could buy one, may cost half of what a new unit will cost. Treat yourself!

What should I check to trouble shoot a Eureka 6865 smart vac making very loud whirring noise? Filter and bag are clean. Hose is unblocked.

Hi, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

I'd say at this point if you've checked your bag, filter and hoses it may be time to check your brush roll and belt. These two fast moving parts, when loose, damaged or just in need of replacement may occasionally give off an odd noise.

Turn the power wand over to expose the base plate that covers the brush roller. The power wand can get dirty and collect debris in the brush roller over time. The grinding noise may be something stuck in the brush roller, causing it to hit the edges when the vacuum is operating. Removing obstructions and cleaning dirt and debris collected over time should allow the vacuum to operate quieter. Unscrew the base plate cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lift out the brush roller and belt. Cut away any obstructions, such as string, hair or rubber bands, from the brush roller. Wipe the brush roller and belt with a damp rag to remove any dirt and allow them to air-dry. Wipe down the brush roller housing and inside the base plate with the damp rag. Any noticeable difference now once it's dried and turned on?

Eureka Altima - before I can get one room vacuumed the belt breaks. Why?

If the belt is breaking that quickly, there is one very prominent culprit that could be causing the problem. Check to see that the beater brush, the roller brush that the belt is supposed to drive, is turning freely on the unit. Remove the brush and clean as best you can. Add some WD40 at both ends of the beater brush by the hard rubber holders and turn the brush by hand to work it into the joint. Reassemble and be sure the belt is put on so the brush turns in the proper direction. Paul

No suction when vacuuming, but suction is good when using hose

check for blockage from where the hose sets in its
holder to the roller brush. Also see if the brush is
turning, the belt maybe broken.

Eureka rm 4480

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au . Unless there is a bad sound coming from your vacuum i would suggest you have a blockage. This machine is prone to getting blockages in 3 different places.
  1. at the base behind the brush.
  2. Inside the main suction hose - this should be removeable so you can drop a small coin through. If it doesnt fall easily viola blockage found.
  3. Where the dirt enteras the chamber or bag.
Basically start by removing all hoses and filters and turn machine on put your hand over all inlet and exit points provided you can feel airflow at one of these points work backwards from there and identify the point at which you no longer feel airflow.
HAPPY vacuuming !
