Question about Compaq fs740 17" CRT Monitor

Using built-in Telex mic?

I have absolutely NO idea how to use my built-in Telex microphone. I try participating in voice calls on msn, but it never works. The microphone volume is not muted, by the way. And I see/have no wires or jacks to plug in anywhere. Mind helping out a clueless, desperate person?

There should be microphone cable that plugs in the back of the monitor to the back of the pc microphone jack. It's color coded PINK.

Toshiba Netbook NB200 sound and microphone working but not on MSN

up vote 0 down vote If you have Windows XP:
  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Select Sounds and Audio Devices ? Audio Tab
  3. Go to Volume on Sound Recording
  4. Select Advance under Microphone and check the Do not monitor check-box.
This way, you should be able to keep using the microphone without feedback from any speakers.

Go to the Control Panel, and click on Sounds and Audio Devices.
Under Device volume, click on Advanced.
Under Microphone, check the Mute button. If the "Microphone" section is missing, go to Options -> Properties, and under the Playback section, enable it.

You say the person at the other end so I assume you are using a messaging client (MSN, Yahoo, Skype etc). Check the audio set up in the client (it allows you to select the mic you want to use and test it).

On MSN Messenger this is Tools, Audio and Video setup

Sound on webcam

Hi,
it could be simply the program you are using. Try it in yahoo messenger or msn

It could be that your voice is too strong.(or to bass) Hi noise levels create cut-out voices.
So turn your microphone volume way down, and your program volume UP a little and tweak it.

It could also be the microphone thats built in to the cam. Try plugging in a separate microphone into your computer and see how that performs.

Thank you and good luck.
