- hey man thankyou after posting this question i got my trusty droplight out and right there on the compressor it said 134 a and i just happen to have a large can of it thanks again for the help
It might be another problem. Unless your unit was damaged there is no reason why R-134a would have leaked, of course, could be a factory defect. I had similar problem with my old Norge, now about 43 years old. It did not cool either. reason was the electric resistance heater imbedded in the evap coil was burned out. Solution was a mechanic added a pyrex glass tube with electric resistance hetaer below the coil, wired it up to the defrost timer and it has worked for the last ten years.
it should be notated on the compressor on the door and maybe inside the fridge. if my memory serves me correctly i think the clean air act states that it should contain r22. if nothing else you can call GE's support line and they can answer that question.

I have defrosted Neff integrated fridge freezer. It is a fairly old one. The freezer section does not now work and I have no operating booklet. There is a yellow and red light at the bottom and they are lit and it sounds like the freezer section is working. When the lights are covered by sliding 'buttons' I presume the freezer is turned off. What lights should be it up?

I have a GE upright freezer. Compressor runs but freezer not cold at all. Also, the door made a sucking sound when closed, doesn't do that any more, could that be part of problem?
