Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

1 Answer

I just got an acer zg5 and the screen is blank

I've tried to add a different monitor, and the only light that comes on is the green light on the power button.

It sounds like your trying to use a full size monitor with your laptop. If that's the case you have to send the video to the cabled monitor by pressing the "fn" (function key) and then pressing the corresponding key that refers to a secondary video device (i.e. projector, monitor, etc.). Typically you press "fn" and f4 (should have monitor looking picture next to it), Some laptops are different, so look at your function (F1 - F12) keys to see which one is correct.

Acer Aspire One notebook model zG5, i hear the hard drive come on, but screen is blank and the keyboard does not respond.

Hello,

connect the laptop to an external monitor, turn it on see if the monitor will display.

If the monitor displays, then it means your screen inverter or screen bulb is the cause of the laptop screen being blank.

Also if the monitor does not display anything, the maybe the graphic card is the cause of the problem.

This would involve you taking the laptop to a repairer

Take care.

Take a bright light close to the screen to see if you can see anything on screen when it is on, and also try pressing Fn+F6.

Hey i have a acer notbook pc zg5, i have all power but no screen can anyone help?? cheers

Try plugging in a normal monitor in the back make sure that the monitor in on standby then when the laptop starts it should send a signal on the 15 pin HD VGA lead if the screen button goes green then it should work the monitor.

You will then know if the internals of the laptop are working fine or not, if it works in this configuaration then I am afraid that you will need a new LCD screen for your notebook. These can be found on e-bay but they can cost upto £50 and are difficult to fit unless you have experience.

Can you help me fix my acer zg5? the screen has gone blank and it will not boot.

If the system will not boot up and you are not receiving any output from the monitor then you have a problem with the power. First inspect the power adapter and ensure power is being supplied throug the adapter. The best way to check is there should be a little green light on the adapter. If that is not lit then change to another outlet in the wall. Try taking out the battery and running it on adapter power only. Then don't plug it in and try running it on battery power only. If none of these produce any power then there is nothing more that can be done. You must take it in to the PC repair shop. They will be able to determine if your motheboard is dead.

Don't forget to 4 star this solution.

BLANK SCREEN

Your LCD display could have gone bad. Try hooking up an external monitor to the laptop. If the external monitor works, then your LCD is bad. If that's the case it may be more cost effective to purchase a new laptop. Prior to doing so, I would check with Acer to find out how much they will charge you to replace the LCD. Good Luck!
