Question about AT&T High Speed DSL Modem

1st time installation: cannot set up the modem properly

    In the installation process, when I get to configuring the modem, it always comes up as failed. I noticed that all the light are green, except for the internet light, which is red.

    Have you talked to the Support Desk at your ISP?

    They can determine why you are getting the "RED" light.

If the internet light is red it indicates that there is an error with the username and password
Check the username and password provided by your ISP
If still unable to connect reset the modem and then reconfigure it with the username and password and choose PPPoE connection type.
If still no success contact AT&T tech support to reset the password

Bought the same identical modem that time warner provides & had them register it.enabled wireless & rebooted modem. wireless disables when you connect time warner says everything is good on their end


The configuration between the modem and your computer requires digital switching via code settings. Check you manual for the proper communication settings.

Telephone your Internet Service Provider, and have them check that you've paid your monthly fees, and that the DSL-modem at "their" end of your telephone-circuit has not failed.

Try a different DSL-modem, to see if your particular modem has "died".

Check the 2-strand or 4-strand wire from the DSL-modem to the wall-outlet, to make sure that it is properly connected.

Try a different 4-strand wire.

I hv connection of TATA Photon Whiz but when i connect it show2s the error 678


this error is due to either the modem not being able to communicate with the network server via the dial up number or the modem string has not been set for the modem. Dial up modems are very finicky and require the proper settings to work properly.
Windows modems are the most notorious for not connecting and have to be setup properly to connect.
1. check your properties of the modem in the device manager.
check the tcp/ip settings to see if you has the connections to obtain an IP automatically and DNS automatically.
check to see if you don't have long distance set.
Please provide more information as to you issue such as :
a. model number
b. manufactured by/model
c. You have checked the user manual 1st.
Please give detailed information as to your issue to better assist you in your resolution of the problem you are having.The more information given will help determine the resolution and guide you to the proper fix for your issue.

Cant set security


Hi,

According to you security settings of your modem is difficult for you.

But you don't have say the OS you are using there. It depend on modem and OS. while installing the driver supported your OS select the PPPoa/PPPoE. After installing go to the web explorer and type the link (IP add) of your modem at the address bar and enter in the modem settings. Your modem vendor will provide this IP or see the manual.

Then go to the security settings and set it pasword protected. Enable the NAT (Network Address Translation)with your Private IP address for security. You can follow the manual to set it properly

My Siemens Gigaset 204A modem is not synchronizing with my vista computer. Only the power and port lights are on.


Please try to install your Siemens modem's driver 1st on your PC but must be sure that driver will be Vista supported.

If the internet light is red, it is not fine. Are you talking to AT&T support?. While on the phone with them, I had to re-add my username and password with IE and then they had to reset my connection and it worked. Give AT&T Internet support a call.

Hey try this one, if doesn't work let me know. First you have to powercyle your modem - meaning turn it off for 10 to 25 seconds then power it up again. Then check status of the modem lights. It should all be in solid green. Else you have to check if cables are properly connected - Data cable (green cable) one end connected to the filter with labeled "DSL/PHN" or the one with monitor engraved, then other end connected to the green port on the back of your modem. Then check also connection of filter to walljack. After which check status of the lights. If still not all in solid green. Check devices near to your modem, these might be the reason for interference of DSL signal. Electronic such as monitors, speakers... must be 2-3 feet away from your modem. Check modem lights. If all in green, test connection. Also there should only be one phone jack connected to your DSL phone line.

Nokia siemens adsl c2110 modem not installed


i have dataone siemens c2110 modem,this is new modem,when this installed the pc and showing this command"the modem could not connect in your pc,and not dectect"i have line properly attached in pc to modem.please help me

Dial-up: Internet Connection


do your pc have a dial-up modem card?
What's the brand? Go to download the latest driver for the modem and try and see.

If not, right click on my computer icon, go to hardware tab, select "device manage", see does it detect any modem driver or not.

If after installing the driver still the same and can't be detected, most properly your modem is going to "heaven".....

Try to change another modem, see whether it can work or not.
