Coffee spilled on a Olympus digital camera -- it got right into the battery terminals, the display is all screwed up, and none of the buttons worked soon afterward.

Can this kind of thing be fixed?

    Thanks for any info

I spilled coffee in the console of my car where my Cannon powershot SD1200IS was sitting

ELECTRICAL contact spray can work. designed for sensitive situations. Also, electrical cleaner, or spray a bit into a cap and cotton swab it on affected areas to blot and absorb the coffee impurities out.
There should be a few micro stainless steel screws that hold the body housing. Take this off and clean with cotton and electrical spray all impurities on the circuit board. The circuit for the screen is likely not getting the signal to display. Also requires certain voltage that might be too low. For really gummed up stuff, try micro drops of Superzilla to clean, but blot off with alcohol after cleaning is completed. That stuff can eat the plastic eventually if left on but is harmless to damaging metal or glass. Non-toxic Superzilla.

Spilled soda on my camera sticky lens

Buy lens cleaner, to wipe off what you can, but in truth the lens should be dis-mantled to clean it properly not to mention the rest of the camera.

Is there anything to do for when soda pop gets in camera and it doesn't work

Its depend on the quantity of the soda or drink spilled on the camera you are using. Use the blower to dry the liquid and do not use it at least 10 to 12 hrs. Allow more time to drying.

I have a Canon PowerShot S5IS, when I turn it on it saids, lens error restart, It still won't work. I spilled my coffee in my car and didn't relize that it got on the camera, When I saw it was wet...

As the liquid dried, the sugar component caused a sticky mess that jammed the mechanism.
Chances are high that no-one will give a free estimate since someone has to spend time to determine the extent of the damage.
Damage can include part or all of the following:
1. Lens barrel assembly (although this might be able to be cleaned)
2. The motor and drive assembly
3. Liquid seppage onto the sensor and surrounding components.
4. Liquid seepage into the lens assembly.

I spilled part of a bottle of water in my pocketbook. The battery recharged fine, but the camera is not getting power and is stuck in the "on" position, with the lens out. I haven't tried...

IMMIDIATELY put the camera ( with all cards/batteries out, slots open) in a bowl of rice for at least two weeks. I did this with a badly water damaged iPod Touch , and it is now in perfect functioning order.

Hope this helps! PS: don't wait until it soaks into the electronics, it can be fatal to your camera

My wonderful little sony cyber-shot got drenched when my water bottle spilled in my purse. It was in my purse about 5 minutes when I discovered it wet. I took it out and laid it in my car seat to dry it...

Every time you try to turn on a camera that still has water in it, you fry the circuits. You should have removed the battery and card, dried as much as you could and then buried the camera in a bowl of dry rice for a week before even thinking of trying it.

My camera is not working right because i spilled coffee on it. the image comes and disapeers

It sounds like this camera has liquid damage. As this would be accidental damage and if you have home insurance this may be covered. Give your insurance company a call.

Mode dial on my Kodak DX6490 camera is hard to turn!

dissmantle the back case (watch for 1 hidden screw under rubber covers), lift plate on back of lcd screen, remove screw on back of dial, clean where it sits on both sides (most probably from a liquid spill...tea, coffee...) , apply some lube with a cottonbud ore a bit of tisue and rebuild.
hope this helps

My camera was in my purse and my perfume spilled on it. i need to know what i need to do to get it fixed

thats very frustrating to hear, but let me make it easier for you, good thing that it wasnt water that got spilled to your camera, but the only thing you have to do is bring your camera to a service center and explain to them that you had your perfume spilled onto it.

ehat they will do is dry the insdes for the camera and they may aso apply dry blower to the lens.

hope this helps.
