Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ice/Water despenser I have replaced the control board that works the touchpad , still when I push the lever to acctuate the despenser, light on the despenser goes out for about 2 or 3 seconds, sounds like the fan in the back if the unit stops, light comes back on but I get nothing from the despenser. No ice stopping the auger from turning, can turn the motor (or gearbox) by hand. At this point I'm thinking bad switch, or bad motor. what do you think? model # GE-GSS22SGRE-SS

80% chance of clogged water filter, or its not installed. Usually GE water system will not work without filter installed. Very often seen it clogged, sometimes frozen up. I hope this was helpful for You!

if you go here this shows you all the parts that are with the dispenser,it sounds like the computer board is bad, maybe the button is stuck in,also there are some micro switches in there that could be bad but without being there it's hard to say what it is,but if as soon as the door switch is closed and the ice dispenser starts it sounds like the touchpad button is stuck or damaged on the dispenser control board part 241708306 and is 38c on the diagram.this part is expensive if you buy it from thr repair clinic and this isn't the part they will take it back for up to 1 year http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Dispenser-Control-Board/241708306/1196737
like i say without being there i can't just give you a 100 percent guaranty that this is it,there's alot of parts there you might want to call in a tech to be sure of what it is or like i say if you order the part from the repair clinic and it's not the right part they will take it back, also let me ask you if you open the door so no power goes to the dispenser when you push the ice dispenser you should hear a clicking sound, you can try the water dispenser first because that works,if you hear a click when you push in the water dispenser lever but no click with the ice lever it could be the micro switch that's bad.i just repaired one that wouldn't dispense any ice and when i pushed in the lever there wasn't any clicking sound so i knew the micro switch was bad, also you can try unplugging the machine or kill the power at the fuse box if it's easier and leave the power off for like 5 to 10 minutes and see if it resets the board.also when the power is back on you can try pushing on the buttons to see if you can unstick the button but i'd hate to see you just buy the board and it's not the problem, you can also smell the board and look at it for any burn marks and like i say if the board is bad alot of times you can smell an electric smell, hope this helps you out and good luck with your machine

Ice/Water despenser Problem- not working(no lights on the button)

Replace the main control board . Pt # WR55X10942 is the part number . The dispenser board has lost communication with the main board . The main control board is behind the refrig , behind the small 8X10 inch panel . There are 6-8 group plugs which will only fit in perspective plugins , so this board is easily replaceable . Cost of board is about $150.00 .

When ice despenser in door is pushed, power dims, temp guages on fridge side go out and no ice. Water will despense but takes several trys to work. Ice maker works..

You have a supply voltage issue on your main board. This is located at the back of the refrigerator in a small compartment. You can get the part and replace it yourself, just make sure you un-plug the fridge before you start the project. It is pretty simple to do, so give it a shot.
Good luck!!

Ice won't come out the door

There is 2 switches in the dispenser that get energized when you push in the levers....check those out. Also there is a small control board in most refrigerators....and that could be malfunctioning.

You need to replace the main control board on the back of the unit. It has a voltage problem. Once it has been replaced with the updated board your issues will be gone.

No Water or Ice

It sounds like a control board problem. When you push in the paddle does the fan in the freezer slow down? If so you need the control board on the back.

No water thru door

I would try putting on the light at the dispenser. It worked for me but took almost 24 hours to work. I am now keeping the light on all the time. Simple solution to try. My ice was working when the water was not coming out.

Your problems are the power board for sure. I have the same refrigerator and have read dozens of forums and advise pages looking for answers. If you let the problem countinue your fridge will completely stop cooling and all your food will be trash as has happened to me.

Symptoms: Fan in the back starts to make click or flopping sound as it tries to start up. Ice despenser doesent despense ice. water works sometimes. Eventually you notice your food defrosting partially and then refreezing as the defrost timer stops working which is controlled by the power board. Light dims and pulses when you hold the Ice despencer in. If you remove the light for the dispencer your water will work fine as long as the fan isnt making the clicking noise. Fan will eventually start up and run.

FYI GE customer Care is useless
