I wanted to know how to tell how many lamp hours are left on a NEC VT47 LCD Projector- also how does the lamp hours work? if you have 2000 hours does that mean the lamp life is over or you have 2000 hours left? if you have 50 hours that means that you have 50 hours left on the lamp or 1950 hours left on the lamp? Help me out quick!!! thanks you!!!!

The NEC VT47 Projector Specifications say that the lamp is good for 2000 hours and it is good for 3000 hours in eco-mode. Lamp hours are typically a counter and not a count down. If your hours are 2000 then you have already used 2000 hours. If a lamp says it is good for 2000 hours it doesn't mean it will not work once you go over 2000 hours, it could last much longer than that, and like headlights on your car, immediately go out at anytime or just dim over time.

If the bulb has 2000 hours that means it is supposed to last 2000 hours of continual use. It is hard to keep track of the lamp hours though unless the projector has a timer built in. It depends on the manufacturer as to if it is telling you 2000 hours left or used. There should be a way to switch this. But a lamp rated for 2000 hours has 2000 hours of being on is expected lifetime

Replacing lamp on nec projector

http://www.necdisplay.com/Products/Storefront/

Go to the link, the NEC has an online store, or you can use their link to find an authorized reseller.

Usually there is just some sort of door on the bottom or side held in place with a screw or two. Refer to your owners manual, or download it from NEC in pdf format.

NEC VT47 Cropped image on left side

Hi. You can press the auto adjust button on the projector and the image should return back into view. If not then try another resolution on your computer as it may not be compatible with the projector.

Blinking status light

Replacing the lamp with an old one was helpful for me. Good news: the projector itself not faulty. Bad news: I have two projectors with the same issue at the same time (the lamps were replaced also at the same time) after only 400 hours of running.

NEC VT47 lamp won't light

According to the manual, yes . . .probably gone past the recommended hours of lamp use. Press the OFF or the HELP button on the remote for 10 sec, this will reset the lamp hours value and allow the unit to come on. If it don't, NEC will tell you that it has to be sent to a repair center.
