Sharp Elsimate 1611P 12 digit Calculator

I have been using this calculator for the past 6 or 7 months with no paper. I finally went and got some paper for it and this is where I ran into problems. I pressed the "2nd" button and then pressed the "M+" button which has the "P/NP" over it (for second function). When I did this, the "NP" that was on the top of the screen changed to "P" which should happen, but where the digits appear on the screen, a big "P" appeared and a little "E" is on the bottom right hand side of the screen. There is also a little "F" on the top of the screen about 1/2 inch to the left of the "P". I cannot use the calculator for anything now, none of the buttons work. I have turned off the power and turned it back on. I have taken the batteries out and put them back in. I have pressed the little reset button the back of the machine. Nothing has worked. The big "P" with the little "E" keep coming back. How do I clear this error and get my calculator back?

I found that the batteries in the machine were strong enough to work the calculator without the paper, but when I tried to switch back to paper, I got the error. I replaced the batteries and it works fine now. Thanks for everyone's help.

I've been using mine for something like 20 years! I just experienced this for the first time. Mine is so old it does not have the '2nd' key. But I got it to reset by turning it off, holding down the P/NP key while powering it on, then hitting the P/NP key once more to turn the little P in the top right corner to NP. Works great now. Hope yours works now as well because I LOVE this little machine.

I had a similar problem but it got totally solved with a 6 volt dc adopter and now no error is given so if there is a problem with the battery and probably the calculator "processor" need for power is not met from the old batteries. Always try new batteries before service or repair as it will solve many of your problems

It sounds like there is a printer error. Take of the cover where the paper is. There should be a little ink roller. Try taking this out and look in and see if the rubber band with the numbers on it is broken. If so, the machine is not worth repairing, unless you can get it replace under warranty. If it is not broken, try turning the machine on and off with the ink roll out of the machine. This should reset the print head as long as nothing is in there jamming it up. Good luck John

How to hang wallpaper

Pretty simple procedure that takes patients. You will have to calculate how much you need which and home improvement center will help you calculate. Square room is simply L x W x H. it is a patterned paper it is a bit trickier for matching up the print on the paper to the one next to it. Once you have the wallpaper paste mixed and the first roll unwrapped you are ready. The starting piece is the most important. Cut it a few inches bigger than the area. Lay the piece on the floor or board or whatever you are going to apply they paste. Spread the paste on evenly across the whole piece and put it up on the wall. This is where you will have to make sure the piece is level on the vertical side. Some make a chalk line for the first piece floor to ceiling. When you first get it on the wall the paste will be wet enough to make adjustments. With a wallpaper brush start brushing the paper to get rid of lines and bubbles while adjusting to its final spot. The overage you have at the top and bottom can be trimmed after you have the paper set. You should also have a tool that looks like a large putty knife. with that you can press the top and bottom firmly in and use the edge to make your final trim. When the first piece is where you like it use a damp sponge to wipe of the excess paste. Now on the next sheet unroll to a point where the pattern is going to match with a single sheet and repeat until finished.

Have a texas instrument paper printing calculator used can't figure out how to load the paper

To avoid paper jams, use quality bond paper. A 2¼-inch roll of quality bond paper is included with your calculator.
1. Set POWER=ON.
2. Cut the end of the paper squarely.
3. Holding the paper so it unrolls from the bottom, insert the end of the paper firmly into the slot on the back of the calculator.
4. While feeding the paper into the slot, press up until the paper is in position.
5. Lift the blue metal paper holder so it extends behind the printer compartment.
6. Place the paper roll on the paper holder.
7. To print, set POWER=PRT or IC.
Note: To prevent damage to the printer (which may void the warranty), set POWER=ON rather than PRT or IC when operating the calculator without paper.
