If the picture shrink into the center of the screen about 4inch then goes blank. you do have problem with your vertical drive IC, it's either loose contact with the board or the vertical IC already malfunction.

My Zenith tv model c27v36 went black while in use. The power indicator will come on but still black screen. Pushing any other button turns it off again. Is there any hope?

If I recall right, there is a main color chip that runs hot and seems to be a major video problem. Open the back of the set and look for this chip. It's about 4 inches long, 2 inches high and 1/2 inch thick. It's black. When you find this devise, look closely if it has a crack in it or looks as though it's been overly hot. If you do change this chip, make sure you use lots of heat sink compound(grease) on the back when reinstalling, as the heat sing grease is what causes this problem as it gets old it hardens and doesn't transfere heat as necessary.

TV suddenly shut off - and now won't turn back on. Screen went totally black. When you try to turn it back on, screen stays dark, and tv has a humming sound that wouldn't shut off until unplugged. Not...

Did this unit fail after a power outage or passing storm? If so could be lost of component in the low voltage power supply circuit or degausing relay circuit. I would strongly suggest you seek help from a qualified repair center. Don not attempt to repair yourself...to dangerous.

DELL 42 inch Plasma TV

I have a 42" LG LCD TV and just experienced this today. Watching cable, then the screen went to black, but audio continued. I pressed the guide button on my remote and pic came on with my guide menu. But then went to black again 10sec later and has remained that way for nearly an hour. Tried switching off both cable box and TV, disconnecting and reconnecting cables, but no luck. Finally unplugged mains, waited a minute, then turned back on. Everything seems normal now after the reboot. Phew.
