Getting external input channel

I have a GE 27GT617, and a new Magnavox(Walmart) ZV450MW8A VHS/DVD recorder/player . Am having a heck of a time getting the input channel. And if I don't have that can't do anything with the player/recorder. does it take a loong time with the up and down the channels with the remote? It is very frustrating. I have Charter coaxial digital cable. I believe everything is hooked up properly. Hate to call theFunai Corporation . Should I just get some other Player/Recorder or seperate components? My husbband also wants to do dubbing of our VHS to DVD. Thanks

Connect aerial or receiver to DVD RW, then DVD RW output to TV.

Then use the input selector to dub, do several tests, until the input selector is set on the right channel (ext1, ext2 etc.)

If you have it hooked up with a Coax cable, you should immediately have picture and sound when you turn it on. Make sure you have a dvd/vhs running and switch between channel 3 and 4. if this doesn't work, make sure that you have the cable connected to the one marked 'in' or 'cable in' or 'ant in'. then retry the previous steps.

You can simply let the auto-scan channel do the searching and store the channels for you. The player will surely work for your TV, you'll just need to connect the cables properly.

I cannot record digital when I try to set up my Magnavox ZV457MG9 (DVD). The unit will only record in the external L1. I have a Comcast box.

This is normal for the ZV457MG9 units. The Magnavox ZV457MG9 does not have an analog (NTSC) tuner; additionally there is no digital (ATSC or QAM) tuner either. It will only record on line in (L1) which is a composite input (limited to SD). The HDMI port on the recorder is an HDMI out to TV, not an input. The component video jacks are also only outputs.

The manual for the Magnavox ZV457MG9/F7 is available here: http://download.m4c.magnavox.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf . The unit was manufactured for Magnavox by Funai; thus another link to the manual is http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/ZV427MG9.pdf .

I wish that I had better news for you.

(If your DVD/VCR recorder had a tuner, it would record off a coaxial (antenna) cable input. Many DVRs can record off the HD connection (HDMI or component); that may be a better option for replacing this Magnavox unit.)

I just bought a Magnavox ZV450MW8A DVD/VCR Recorder. It has recording capabilities on both the DVD and VCR components but can you tell me if I can use it to record FROM the VCR directly onto the DVD? This...

Yes, you can, I have this unit and have actually copied a dvd to a vhs and then copied back to a dvd as I wanted a dvd copy to give a friend. The directions in the book are really quite simple. They tell you how to set the vhs to the spot where you want to start copying, etc.

I have not yet tried copying my family vhs tapes, but don't see a problem, just a big project. Good luck.

Need the remote code for a phillips dvd player

These are the codes printed in the owners manual for your dvd/vcr player. If they do not work you will have to contact Emerson and ask them for help getting the code. The contact number should have come with the instructions for the remote. Just give them the model number of you remote and the units model number and they should be able to help you. I hope this information helps you with your problem. Switch the input selector on your TV to an appropriate external input channel (usually near channel 0).
Press a button on the TV’s original remote control that selects an external input channel until the DVD
recorder’s picture appears. Check your TV owner’s manual for details.

I cannot record using a DVD/VHS player.

You can record. From antenna to converter box, from converter box to vcr. From vcr to TV.
TV on Channnel 3 VCR on channel 3, and set channel on converter box. Then Record.

Time recording works the same way, but you can set for only one channel at a time. Tht is the only restriction that I have not overcome. The converter box sets the channel. Gee Whizz

On my new magnavox zv450mw8a i cannot get the vcr to come through the tv. i have followed the instructions on page 20 in the owners manual.what am i doing wrong?

I had the same problem with the dvd/vcr and my tv not communicating with each other even though they were plugged up correctly. I called the manufacturer phone # on the instruction manual. What they told me to do is strange, but it worked. They said to switch the bottom "in" yellow connector to the bottom "out".....and plug the bottom "out" yellow connector into the bottom "in". It worked on mine. Hope this helps.

VHS to DVD Dubbing Problem

I have the same problem. I saw a solution that said I needed to set my cable to a non-premium channel like NBC, ABC, PBS, CSPAN in order to allow the dubbing to occur without the +VR problem. At first, I thought it was a stupid solution; but guess what, It worked. I just set my cable box to from HBO to CSPAN,restarted the dubbing from VCR to DVD and it worked. Now the question is: Why do I have to change the channel when I'm dubbing from VCR to DVD?
This worked for me..still trying to figure out why it worked???

Magnavox ZV450MW8A can't record

Just set the channel to a non-premium channel (ABC, CBS, PBS, etc.) before starting the dubbing process.
