Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

I have a non-functioning keypad for my Liftmaster garage door. It's 8 years old. In the past changing the battery has remedied the problem. This time I changed the battery twice with no success. The light flashes numerous times when I do the code and enter. Does it have to be replaced?

The door opens with the remote or indoor button but not the outdoor keypad.

First of all, did you try recoding unit by hitting LEARN BUTTON on motor. Try that. If n/g, try a new code with a number you did not use. Example, if old code was 5834, try 2222. If it works, one of the numer from you old code is worn out. Try new code or buy new pad.

My wireless remote keypad stopped working. I changed the battery and it worked to get the garage door down but not up. The key pad is about 7 years old.

It sounds like your keypad is going bad and has a weak signal. It can operate the opener with the door open but with the door between it and the receiver it can't.

Did the remote and keypad work before you changed the battery? Changing the battery in the keypad should not affect the remote.
