Where is roper thermal fuse, its an older dryer

Hello,

On older Whirlpool brand dryers(roper is made by Whirlpool) the thermal fuse is usually always in the blower housing..to get to it ya would need to remove the back panel.

Dryer won't start

This usually caused by a blown thermal fuse on the blower housing located behind the rear access panel. This thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and if it blows, power to the motor is terminated and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run.

Unplug the dryer or disconnect power then remove the rear access panel. Locate the thermal fuse then bypass it for troubleshooting purposes.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and joining it together. Insulate properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

Clean the lint filter and make sure the vent system is not restricted then replace the thermal fuse including the cycling thermostat (thermistor for other models) as a standard operating procedure and preventive measure. The thermal fuse usually cuts out due to a failed cycling thermostat(thermistor for other models).

Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)
$10.70

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

Roper Dryer # RED 4440, will not heat. Where are the fuses? What are other possible solutions.

Hi,
The dryer will not heat then it is the thermal fuse that is bad, you can test it with a voltmeter before replacing. This fuse is located inside the rear panel and it cannot be reset.
Hope this will help....

MY ROPER DRYER QUIT HEATING STILLS WORKS NO HEAT

The thermal cut-off , which is the small t-stat looking piece located at the top of the element housing ( on vertical mount elements ) or the far front of the element housing ( on horizontal mount elements ) , is usually the cause for no heat .

Need to replace the heating element. Where is it located

It is on behind the back cover on the bottom right. Make sure to check the thermostat and thermal fuse which are common to fail on these dryers. If the thermal fuse is bad be sure to check the dryers vent system for any obstructions. The thermostat and limit are mounted to the tube the element is in and the fuse is made of white plastic usually located to the left. check these for continuity including the element. If any are open replace them.
