Web Cam picture continually goes from dark to light and then light to dark.

Please remove the web cam and uninstall the driver of the web-cam. now reinstall the driver after the PC was restarted and then connect the web-cam to be detected and installed.
if this wont work then the web cam is faulty- a hardware issue.

Describe your how to install logitech quickcamProblem i install already but my msn can use the web cam

Disconnect your webcam
Close all programs
Uninstall current software
Restart computer
Download software from Logitech website - find your camera and click on the picture to move to the support page for that model

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/405/&cl=us,en?prodcrid=405

Older models on page 2 - look for the link at bottom right of page 1 "Still can't find your product?"
Select your OS and download software
Upload software - you may not want the Logitech chat feature but do opt for the desktop shortcut
Connect your webcam when prompted
Make sure you have the support software installed for logitech webcams (DirectX 9)

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

http://www.testmycam.com/

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - (if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN)
Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture.
Click 'Finish'

No, you don't need to do anything more. That should do it. Logitech also has a webcam with a built in mic that would work for you as well.
