TV will not turn on, already replaced lamp

I turn on tv but the screen is dark and no tv volume. A loud noise surges up and down for approximately 1 minute and shuts down and the LED indicator for lamp is solid red. The lamp has been replaced.

Could this problem be the color wheel or power supply. Does anyone have an idea. Again, the tv warms up the screen is black with no sound. I hear the fan and another noise humming that goes lound and then goes low up and down for approximately 1 minute. The tv then shuts off with the lamp indicator goes to a solid red.

I will try to find a tech. to test the board. There is only one near my home that is a service tech. Would Best Buy that could service Optoma RD50.

    Thanks

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Always, any sound out of the ordinary indicates a fault; intermittent clicking - relay, chirping - power supply, screeching - high speed motor.

Two ways to address the problem:

  • DIY (do-it-yourself) repair. This would require familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM and a soldering iron. It would be to your advantage to have access to a Service Manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage measurements;
  • seek the services of a qualified professional for a repair quotation.
While it would be possible to effect your own repairs, there would be the above mentioned pre-requisites; otherwise, it would be guess work and unfortunately may lead to false diagnosis/parts replacement. A quote on the other hand would cost depending on the going rate within your location. The advantage is that you would have an idea of the possible cost of parts and service fee. This would be significant since this information factored in with downtime, efforts to have the TV repair would present you an evaluation of your options to consider including, DIY, repair person or worst, replacing the unit entirely.

If you are comfortable with the DIY, pls post back. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

There is a safety latch where the lamp door closes you have to make sure that the latch is getting depressed when you put the lamp in if not the set will not turn on, some people have stated the when they change the lamp that the latch is not being depressed and the set will not fire up.
thanks.

The noils lets think to a fault concerning the power supply.

If no blinking code is given the tv must be taken apart and tested by a technician.

On PSU board, capacitors and components must be tested.

If problem is not there , get the service manual and follow troubleshooting diagrams.

Hello

If the power light blinks slowly,

you've tried to turn on the TV during

the lamp cooldown cycle. Wait

approximately 30 seconds, and the TV
will turn on automatically.

If light blinks, pauses for about a

minute, and blinks again: the lamp is

trying to turn on (TV will turn on

when successful). If TV doesn't turn

on and sequence continues, the lamp also
needs to be replaced.

To order lamp call 1-800-338-0376.

Have your TV serial number

and lamp type available (you'll

find this information on the

sticker that's on the right side of
the TV).
OK.

TV was dark in color then made loud Popping noise and now no picture on TV

You don't indicate model or brand, sounds like you may have an LCD projection tv. If so find the lamp housing area, remove the lamp. You may find that the anode of the lamp has fractured. You can by your model # find replacement lamps on line. I use niosales on eBay for lamps, always good quality , priced right and free shipping!

26" Insignia TV, screen is

Go to your menu and choose picture. See if your settings are normal or if the brightness is turned down. If it isn't then it's a problem with the T.V.

TV turned on, heard loud pop. Now screen is very dark.

It sounds like the actual tube / lamp inside the unit has exploded. You will need to either get it repaired at a local TV repair shop or replace the TV. Unfortunately with that unit it is probably cheaper to just replace it.

Tv went grayscreen, flickering. turned off, then

When you had gray screen and flickering you had only one problem - color wheel. After "putting everything together" you have totally different problem, caused by multiple possibilities like: forgotten connectors, cut/jammed cables/wires, lamp not being inserted properly, lamp door not being set properly, disconnected color wheel, etc. Try to open rear cover and redo what you have done. Remove optical block, check everything visually and slowly put everything back. If still no luck - then only skilled TV repairman may (or may not) help.

Listen from the back of the TV and locate the source of the noise. There may be fan with a bad bearing. The noise will lead you to it.
