How do you shut off the menu dialogue box so that it stays off? It appears randomly and when you push the auto button it goes for ror a while then pops back on. Is there a on line manual I can look at. This is my sisters monitor and she does not know the computer very well and gets frustrated.
Same problem here. I've had this monitor almost two years with no
problem until this morning when it started flashing the menu screen and
nothing I do will make it stop. Oh well, it was only a hundred dollars.
I guess this is emachine's way of saying, "you got your money's worth,
now throw this piece of junk away and get another", lol. And therein lies the solution! :)

OSD LOCKED/UNLOCKED This function allows you to lock the current control settings, so that they cannot be inadvertently changed. Press and hold the MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSD LOCKED" should appear. You can unlock the OSD controls at any time by pushing the MENU button for several seconds. The message "OSD UNLOCKED" should appear.
have you found a solution to this problem? i have the very same problem. i have taken apart the back of the monitor and found that if i take the small circuit board that is plugged into the power switch it goes away leading me to beleive that it is this small board but i do not know where to get it at. the number on the board is ar577 vk-583 rev:1. any help would be greatly appreciated. my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Try a hard reset: Unplug from power source, disconnect from PC and wait for 10 minutes. Reconnect everything and see if the issue is resolved. If not, then you either have a loose contact on the menu button or failing circuitry. I'd recommend calling Sharp tech support in this case..
