Basicaly you need to know if ot has 110 volts on the primary of the mag transformer. If you do its someting in the cap or the mag tube. If not then its in the relay or the timer.

If it just slowely started taking longer and longer to heat over months then the mag tube has gone bad.

Microwave now taking longer to heat same cup of water - safe?

Actually if there is a larger than normal power demand in your area from a cold spell and the input line voltage drops even 5 volts from 120V to 115V it can make a huge difference in the performance of your microwave. It can also be signs of a weak high voltage capacitor or a failing high voltage diode. Neither of those are an excess espense repair.
If it is working normally but taking up to 30 seconds longer to get the results you had in the past check the input power first. I would also check the fuse holder inside the chasis to see if it had weak contacts and not grasping the fuse very well. If it looks like it has been hot or the fuse is a solder type and you see signs of melted solder there is a problem with either the fuse or fuse holder (this can act like a resistor and drop the input power voltage.)

Whirlpool MH1160XSQ-1 microwave oven will not heat

all microwaves have a magenetron which produces the heat. if this is gone and it is not under warranty, it is not cost effective to repair. check you manual, most mag's have a 3 - 5 year warranty.

I have a microwave built in 1998. It is a GE Model # JES1244WA001 and it won't heat. When we turn it on, it acts normal, but it just won't heat. I unplugged it and plugged it back in but that didn't help....

hello, let me see if i can assist you.

When the microwave sounds okay, but there's no heat, one of the internal door switches, the high voltage circuitry, or the circuit board may have a problem. To resolve this problem, you need the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Since your microwave is 11 years old, most technicians would recommend that you trash it and buy a new one. The repair will cost more than a new microwave.

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part
