You probably have a directory on your Storage Card called \Storage Card\My Documents\Map_Name
copy the Map_Name folder to the root of your Storage Card
so you have \Storage Card\Map_Name
restart TomTom and it should pick up the map back. if this didnt work then probably the card directory where the map is stored may corrupt or unreadable try reinstalling the map at least this has worked in many tomtom one’s And one xl’s that i have tried, First of all connect your tomtom to your computer. making sure your online,Go to log on. if you’ve not created an account create one now. If you’ve had to create an account restart tomtom home.
You should have the tomtom home screen in front of you, Now even if tomtom home is showing you logged in, ignore this click your email adderss in the top right hand side of the screen and log in again and click continue. Then click Device/disconnect device. Now your tomtom will update itself and your maps will be restored please let me Know if this has worked for you.hope this helps pls apprecite by rating as fixyaa
thanks and Godbless
The Garmin units have three ways to view the map - 3D, 2D North Up or 2D Track Up. I believe the Tom Toms have just 2D or 3D. If you are asking if the Tom Toms can Track Up (which is what it sounds like you are asking), I believe the answer is no.
You definitely need software and maps on an SD card. The TOMTOM will not work without a card inserted. The card will contain MAPS , Map authorisation codes ( to show they are genuine TOMTOM maps bought and paid for ) , POI ( points of interest ), GPS fix data , voices ( for spoken navigation ) etc etc etc. ....................
PLEASE NOTE , TRYING A CARD FROM ANOTHER TOMTOM is very unlikely to work. Each card has an authorisation code that is generated via an algorithm inside each TOMTOM and is device specific.
However , trying a card from another tomtom might produce a diferrent result but still not work , at least this might prove that the tomtom is working OK before you rush out and buy a tomtom card.
What is happening is your map updates are being copied onto your memory card without overwriting the old maps hence you are running out of memory.
In the tomtom home browser you should be able to delete your old map before installing the new one. Make sure you have a back up of the map card before you try this though so you can reinstall if something goes wrong.
Also have you replaced the voice prompts on your tomtom? The voice files take up a lot of memory so if you have put new ones one without removing the old ones you will be wasting memory.
There is one window in TThome that lists eveything installed on yuor card so have a good look at this and see what you can get rid of.
