WPA requires an group of alpha numeric sequences for encrypting data between the wireless card on the computer and the wireless access point/router.
These sequences are hard to remember when setting up the wireless Access point/router soa passphase is used to generate these alpha numeric sequences, just use any english phrases such as "I love you 2 pieces", then this can be used to configure your wireless card on your computer.

I can't find my WEP Key

you can get your WEP by logging to your router via cat 5 cable.
open internet explorer
browse to http://192.168.1.1
default login is blank password is admin
click on wireless click on wireless security
WEP passphase is displayed.
i highly recommend you change WEP to WPA. WPA is much more secured to WEP.

My son went to youtube and found a video on how to change WPA to WEP. Now my network is not working on my printer and laptop

you need to reconfigure your printer and laptop to WEP but I don't recommend it as WEP is terrible and easy to crack.
connect to your router via cat 5
open internet explorer and browse to http://192.168.1.1
login with the default login is blank. pass is admin.
go to wireless and to wireless security.
change it back to WPA personal.
change the passphase for the wireless password.
use the new passphase you created and tell your printer/laptop to join your wireless network
you may want to change your wireless password too so your son won't reconfigure your router again.
do this by going to administration and change the password there.

Whats a wpa key? I have tried connecting to my router on my wireless device and my wireless device ask's for a wpa key? is it the same as a lan key?

WPA <<===>> WIRELESS PROTECTED ACCESS

You need to use an Ethernet cable to connect a computer to the router, and then access the web-server inside the router, and then run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard". When you do, you will set:

* the SSID ("network name") -- pick anything you prefer
* the encryption-level (hint: use 'WPA')
* the password for the network -- pick anything you can remember

Then, from a wireless device, do a "View Available Wireless Networks".
Select the SSID, and enter the password, to make a connection.

What is the pin?

Pin is basically the password of the router wep/wpa which protect the wireless router from other people to use your network or internet conenction. If you enable the wep/wpa passphase it will set security lock and will prevent other people to use your conenction.

When i log on to internet my wirelss router asks for a passphase i did not set upthe router how do i find out or reset passphase

The passphrase is a way of setting up the encryption code in the wireless router. This is used to protect your wireless router from unauthorized access.
The passphrase is configured in the router wireless configuration and this configuration is applied to the wireless card in the laptop/computer to allow the laptop/computer to connect to the wireless router.
Please click on this link and follow my instruction to configure your wireless router and wireless card in the laptop/computer :-

Passphrase my isp does not have this information either

I understand that you are trying to connect the wireless adapter in your notebook computer to the wireless network being offered by your own router.

Login to your router's web-server, and query the pass-phrase it is using, or reset the pass-phrase.

Laptop not responding to my belkin

You would have to login to the router and see what the encryption level is, i.e. WEP or WPA, then you should see a obscure key checkbox, uncheck it to see the plaintext of the passphase, if the checkbox is unchecked when you log in then you should be able to see exactly what they are... Hope this helps!
