My computer consistently shuts off from overheating as well. Before, it only shut down when I was playing online games, or running media applications. I have cut down on the number of applications I run at one time, deleted several applications from the start up process.. and it is still shutting off after between 20-40 minutes of being on--and this is with the laptop plugged into the wall.
I've defragged, run anti-virus, anti-spyware programs, and its clean.
    Any ideas?

How do you import CDs into iTunes?

Copy music from a CD to iTunes by following these steps:
  1. Insert a music CD into your computer. Notice that iTunes opens automatically.
  2. In the list that appears, use the checkboxes to select or deselect the songs you want to import. Songs that are selected will be imported.
  3. After you've selected the songs you want to import, click the Import button. iTunes will begin copying the music from your CD to your iTunes music library.
  4. After the songs are imported, click the Eject Disk button.
  5. Select Library in the Source list to view all the music in your iTunes library, including the songs you just imported.

Itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs missing where can i get them? Bill

It seems that some users installing iTunes 8 on Windows systems are encountering an error message:

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

You can get the current GEAR drivers here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Uninstall iTunes, reboot, & then do a fresh install of iTunes.

Hope This Help You

Incomplete importing in iTunes 8.0.1

Try simply copying the media from the finder. Click the CD in your sidebar, and drag the data inside to the desktop or where ever inside your drive. If it works ok here, then itunes is your problem, otherwise its hardware I'm sorry to say. If it is hardware, try a CD cleaner. If it works in the finder fine, go to *your home folder*/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist and delete that file.
