I try to install the network driver but it says this device cannot start code 10

Most of the time, you can resolve this error by updating the device driver for the faulty device. To update the driver, select the system option from the Control Panel. In the System Properties dialog box, select the hardware tab, and then select the device manager button. Scroll through the Device Manager window and identify the faulty hardware device. Right-click on this device and then select the update driver command. Next, follow the screen instructions to update the driver of the selected device.
And make sure you download the driver from the manufacturers website

    it sounds like you got a bad device. if the drivers installed with no errors i would return the device and try another one. 


    What is the device? USB or Daughtercard?

    Or if you are running windows xp you can try this fix. But it is messing with the registry so be careful. Scroll down to advanced troubleshooting and follow the directions carefully

    Try going to the motherboard manufacturer site and see if there are any updates available for the motherboard controllers or anything. I am leaving the office now but will look this up more at home

    is this a new motherboard? did it work before? What made you install the driver?

    where are you trying to download the driver from? I honestly think you are just downloading a bad driver.

My dell inspirion all the sudden wont find wired networks and in the device manager it says "this devise cannot start (code 10)


Code 10 means that the drivers are not installed properly. May be that the drivers need to reinstalled or rolled back

Try rolling back the drivers first, that should resolve the issue for you. this can be done from the device manager itself. right click on the device, then click on properties and then on drivers and then click on rollback.

Else you may uninstall the drivers and then reinstall the drivers from Drivers & Utility disk.

Keep getting error code 10 when trying to install either the belkin drivers on win 7 32bit, also tried atheros 8000x drivers since its the chipset on the card


the error code 10 says that the device cannot start...for this purpose you need to remove the driver completely and re-install it again...check on www.belkin.com/support for driver support and latest version of drivers...you can also install the driver for windows 7 in compatibility mode...
right click on the downloaded driver file and go to properties> select compatibility tab and make a check on the checkbox"run this driver compatible for" and select the latest version of operating system for which the driver is available....

guess it may help you out...

Update the driver

Error code 10 in device manager means that the device cannot start. This is due to either the drivers are not updated, or the drivers are not recognized by the Device Manager.

Try the following:
- Uninstall and then reinstall the drivers.
- Make sure you have the updated drivers and the drivers are compatible with the operating system of the computer.
- Try to install the adapter to another computer, just to isolate the issue if this is a problem with the drivers or if it is a compatibility issue with the PC.

Please note: WUSB54GSC v1 drivers can also work with Win 7 using the Win Vista drivers.

1. Try updating the driver from the Device Manager.

Open the Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. Right Click on the Device and select the option Update Driver.

2. Uninstall the Driver from the Device Manager, restart the Computer and then reinstall it.

How to go to Device Manager:

Device will not start code 10 message


Code 10 means DRIVERS COULD NOT BE INSTALLED. Try installing the drivers manually.

Do this if pc is XP.
1.Keep the wireless adapter connected to the pc
2:Go to control panel, add/remove programs. Remove the wireless adapter software
3:Restart the computer, when the found new hardware wizard shows up click on it, click NO NOT THIS TIME, then select install from a list of specific location. On the next page Click on DON'T SEARCH, I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVERS TO INSTALL.

4.HIGHLIGHT NETWORK ADAPTERS on the hardware type, the CLICK HAVE DISC

5.Click BROWSE to set the location of your drivers
6.Open the driver folder, then the pc should copy the files.
